my friend has a 1993 500sel, it's got the doors that have a mechanism that closes them when you pull them close to the car. the driver door latch assy is bad as per the mechanic. mechanic says they have to special order that part from mercedes in germany.

I think I may have a glow plug out. I have an '83 300sd, and I have some odd colored smoke. It smells like biodiesel, and I think maybe a cylinder is out? How do I test the plugs, and wires?

I have a start prolem in my 84´ 380 SE (USA version) whith 100, 000 miles In cold conditions,( in the morning),it starts perfectly,but, when you stop the car after a trip, the temp gauge reads 85º C - normal temp-, and wait one or two hours -the temp gauge reads 40ºC-,

The A/C on my '95 E320 has started to act up a bit. The compressor shuts down if it is parked for a while in a hot location or if it has to sit for a while at a stop light when it is hot outside. If I then drive for a few miles, turn the car off, and then turn the car back on, ...

Looking buying at a clean 1990 560 SEL with 140 k miles on it. Are these cars reliable after this much time ? ( I know the mileage is "low") What might I expect from leaking seals, and other time based ware ? The top end has been done - timing chain , etc, new tires - drove it ...

I just found this site, and you guys seem to be giving really sound advice. Here is one that has stumped my mechanic.. (he refuses to charge me if he can't solve the problem, but he has run out of ideas and apparently, spare time :-))

On my 500 SL (type 107), the dash lights, odometer (I suppose it is electronic on a 500 SL) and blower (automatic climate control unit) are not working. I checked the fuses, the rheostat in the dash is OK. Speedometer is also OK, as well as clock and other gauges. Radio

probably stupid question, but I don't know exactly what a Wheel Offset is all about. Most, if not all, MB wheels have a 5 bolt pattern at 112 mm. The bolt sizes vary, the older being a couple or so mm smaller than the newer so that one has to be careful of the bolt 'seating' ...

Does anyone know how I can close the moon roof since the gearbox for the electric motor is slipping internal? I tried to remove the drive rod from the gearbox to manually turn but rod would not come out. Is there a trick of some kind?? Thanks.
