Anything else after applying the torque (in steps), for example?

Hard hot start on 560SEC20 Aug 2007 20:27 GMT2
While checking the fuel accumulator, I noticed black soot blown from the
exhaust on starting. Must be running very rich which maybe explains the
rough idle. Runs fine at speed, tho.
I am running out of ideas.
unidentified part up under pedals20 Aug 2007 13:51 GMT15
Found a relay/solenoid up under the pedal assembly of my 1976 300d
with automatic transmission.  Not sure what it is or does.  It has a
somewhat "S" shaped stamped sheet metal switch attached to it.  Was
just hanging above the brake pedal and steering column by a wiring

they can also be very dangerous. Here are some basic precautions to

New Owner of an MB20 Aug 2007 04:38 GMT6
In a move nobody ever thought I would make, I traded my beloved and
faithful Eclipse GT for a 2003 C230 Kompressor.  It was an extraordinary
deal, very low mileage, pristine condition, fully optioned beauty.  For the
first time I actually had a car gone over by my mechanic ...

Hard starting 560SEC19 Aug 2007 15:37 GMT2
My 560SEC has stopped on the road and refused to start or refused to start
after being parked for a few minutes. I always keep my foot off the gas
pedal when starting as per instructions for late model American cars.
Reading the Mercedes owners manual, I learned that the ...
91 300E Condenser replacement19 Aug 2007 02:07 GMT4
I have to replace the condensers in my 1991 and 1993 300E's as luck has it.
I hoping someone with experience in this will offer some details [PDF]
photos or what to look for. I was reading some procedures and gathered the
front glass needed to be removed for some reason. Any ...
Nagging transmission issue, '79 12318 Aug 2007 04:52 GMT4
Something that's bothered me from time to time, like any time I'm trying
to accelerate, is that the change from second to third gear seems to
happen really early.
If I'm under full throttle load and get it into first gear (which by
'79 W123 300TD ShutOff Valve18 Aug 2007 04:48 GMT10
The car's taken a second or so to shutdown ever since I got it about
nine months ago (wow the time flies).
While running heav's suggestion of the miracle oil in a tank of diesel,
the shutoff completely failed to function.  It didn't shut off the first
Gas mileage on '81 380 SL17 Aug 2007 23:27 GMT1
Bought it about 2 months ago, 116,000 miles, runs great, and mechanic
says engine in factory spec shape after tune-up.  BUUUUTT, I am only
getting about 12MPG driving easily around suburbia.  Is this normal and
am I expecting too much?  BTW I am no hot rodding lead foot.
1984 300D transmission gearshift prevents starter to engage17 Aug 2007 14:22 GMT11
I recently bought a 1984 300D.  I have noticed I can move the gear
shift (US auto) up and down without the car started.  I believe you
shouldn't be able to do this.  Also where reverse is located the
shifter is between Park and Reverse.  Anyway I think this causes the

'72 350SL...back seat-belt?16 Aug 2007 19:43 GMT3
Hi Group.
I have just purchased a 1972 350SL, the hard/soft top 2 seater.  There is a
small area behind the two seats that would hold my daughter if there was a
