83 Turbo diesel 'jerks' under acceleration25 Oct 2007 04:17 GMT6
I have a 83 300td turbo wagon that I converted to a 4 speed stick
shift years ago.  Lately, under acceleration, I feel a slight, but
pronounced 'jerking', or hesitations,  it seems ok under steady
power.  [at least I can't feel it]
Need opinions on used CPO 2001-2003 ML320/35024 Oct 2007 20:01 GMT1
I'm looking to buy a 2001-2003 ML320/350 "certified pre-owned" from a
dealer in the $20K range. If what's going to go wrong hasn't, are
these OK to buy? Any experiences with the CPO program? What to watch
out for in this range of MLs?
When is it time to say goodbye?24 Oct 2007 18:39 GMT13
Der Klunker nee Pimpmobile, is a 1981 300SD, which we bought for $1,500
in 1999. We never should have bought it as everything that could go
wrong did go wrong or was already wrong. But hey! We are not the first
to throw good money after bad.
WTB: Ignition Control Unit(EZL) for CE23 Oct 2007 15:33 GMT2
Alas, the Ignition Control Unit has gone out on my 1990 300 CE. The
Mercedes part number of my unit is 016 545 0432. It is fitted with a
Siemens unit, but Bosch will work as well.
I'm also told the following numbers will work, but I can't verify this.
Replacing Rotor w/Heat Crack on 380sl23 Oct 2007 14:57 GMT3
When I recently had the tires of my 81 380sl rotated, the Midas
mechanic noticed a shallow groove -- he called a heat crack -- running
radially from the edge to the center of the rear, left rotor. He said
it was nothing to worry about, and that it should pass PA inspection
81 300dt - dash rheostat23 Oct 2007 06:21 GMT7
Can this be refurbished, or must I spend ~$75 for a new one?  Is this a
fairly easy job?  It doesn't look terribly daunting at first blush.
I've seen a kit (from mercedessource) to augment, or brighten, the
illumination as well.  Has anybody tried this?  They also sell the tools
1969 280SE - fuel injection to carb?23 Oct 2007 06:10 GMT9
I'm the proud owner of a 280SE that has fuel injection problems like I
cannot begin to describe. Basically I've decided that it's easier, and
will likely save more fuel if I simply remove the mechanical FI and
replace it with a decent carb(maybe a couple of Webers?).
SD300 wet trunk23 Oct 2007 06:08 GMT7
Hi All, I know this has been beat to death but, can someone tell me
where the rear sunroof drains route thru the trunk. Or where do they
drain? I have a wet trunk and have chased all the likely
sources....Thanks for any advice.

Redline v. Amsoil22 Oct 2007 17:39 GMT4
I am seeking advice, information and opinions on the choice between
Redline Synthetic and Amsoil for the Mercedes diesel engines. I have
been using Amsoil synthetic on gasoline-powered engines for years with
great success, but have thus far never used the sythetic in my
W123 Alloy Wheels22 Oct 2007 13:48 GMT2
I found a set of "Bundt" style wheels in surprisingly good shape at a yard.
I am planning to use them on my 1985 230CE. There may be a problem: they are
6 1/2 x 14 in size. The steel wheels currently an the care are 5 1/5 x 14
although the owners manual says the car should have 6 x ...
1986 300e22 Oct 2007 13:20 GMT9
Suddenly my 300e won't go into Drive.  It goes into the lower gears
just fine.  There is a little grit in the AT fluid.  Been serviced
regularly.  The only thing I noticed before this was a slight
hesitation when taking off from a stop.  Any help or suggestions would
W123 Passenger Side Mirror21 Oct 2007 00:15 GMT7
I have been driving the 230CE for about 2000 miles now. It is doing pretty
good except the fuel mileage has never been above 22 MPG with mostly freeway
driving.
The thing that I do not like is that the passenger side mirror is flat, not
Buying a used w124 station. Any advice?20 Oct 2007 19:52 GMT16
I used to own a '88 230 TE, but I sold it last year because the car had
some serious trouble (broken fuel injection), and lacked some
accessories I wanted on it. However, I miss driving that car now, so I
decided to look for a comparable car which is in better shape. I'm
99 E 300 Side View Mirror Repair20 Oct 2007 13:56 GMT9
The springs for the left and right side view mirror assembly were detached
while having the car washed today. The were pushed forward. Can someone tell
me how to reassemble them. I have both springs but am not sure how the
spring attaches on the inside of the mirror body.  Thanks
