Are the fuel lines in a car of this vintage synthetic? I'm told that I really don't need to change to Viton to run B99. TIA JD

| Found: 5 Speed Shifter | 25 Nov 2007 16:12 GMT | 2 |
I can't believe my good luck. I was driving by the yard that I frequent and decided to stop in. Walking down the third row of cars I saw a 1985 190E. Not getting my hopes up since I have seen about a dozen of these cars all with automatic, I looked inside and saw the five speed ...

| Fan Belt Noise -- squealing | 24 Nov 2007 02:25 GMT | 3 |
Wondering if anyone else has this problem and how it was fixed. So far the the mechanic say it is the bearing in the fan assembly. He greased it and it went away for an hour and now it is back. Cold engine, no noise. 20 minutes later the squealing starts. As you

| Wanted: W123 or W201 5-Speed Shifter | 23 Nov 2007 17:31 GMT | 6 |
Thank You for all of your previous responses to my posts. I like driving the 230CE but the RPM's are high at 3000@ 60 MPH. I am preparing to put a 5-speed transmission from a W201 190D in to help out. I expect it to be a bolt-up job. The only problem is finding a 5-speed

| Diesel Engine into a W124 300ce | 22 Nov 2007 03:50 GMT | 10 |
I am intending to fit an engine from a Mercedes 300d 1990 into a 300ce 1990. Has anyone attempted this? Any problems? It seems a straightforward job, but wonder if the extras like Air Con, Cruise etc make it more complicated.

I read or heard somewhere that using the cruise control is hazardous to your fuel mileage. Is that true? If so, why? Seems to me it should increase your fuel mileage.

| Advice on parktronic retrofit | 20 Nov 2007 20:58 GMT | 3 |
Am looking to get an 00-02 CLK Coupe here in the UK and wanted it with Parktornic. Unfortunately, not many good examples have this factory fitted from new but I spoke to one independent dealer who said that for £500 (£250 for rear, £250 for front), the original Merc parktronic

| W124 rear axle subframe mount | 20 Nov 2007 10:06 GMT | 6 |
I need to change the rear axle subframe mount bushings (the two rubber bushings in the front of the subframe) on my 1989 230E (W124). How do I get these off/on? Do I need to remove the entire subframe for this job? Any hints appreciated.

| Defroster control/motor | 19 Nov 2007 23:20 GMT | 3 |
The Defroster-A/C system on my 1997 E320 was acting up. It was behaving erratically. It would only operate at full on or completely off. The dealer said that the motor control system needed replacement, but that in order to do this the whole blower system had to be replaced. I ...

| 500SL or XK8?? | 19 Nov 2007 14:09 GMT | 6 |
I had been looking to get into a used SL and had my sights set on a 1991 500SL with 95k in my area. It's white with AMG rims and looks sharp. Dealer is asking $13k. I've also been a fan of the XK8 series by Jaguar and just found one listed at another dealer for the EXACT same ...

| Change Dash lights | 18 Nov 2007 05:54 GMT | 1 |
I have been told that it is necsessary to unmounth the speedometer wire from the transmission hood (Auomatic transmission -88 mod 230E) before it is possible to take out the dash board, for changing the lights. I have been under the car and searched, but I can not find out where ...

Hello. Can someone please help? I parked the car 2 months ago after putting a lower control arm on it and was saving for tires, brakes and a front end alignment. I made an appointment at the tire and alignment shop to have the work done and the car would not start. It ran fine when ...

| Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR | 17 Nov 2007 06:43 GMT | 2 |
No changes are made to the already potent 600hp 8.4-liter aluminum V10, however, the suspension receives KW coilovers that are adjustable in ride height and dampening in addition to a new front stabilizer bar for increased front end stiffness and reduced body roll.
