Pursuant to earlier posts regarding the perennial debates about oil,
today I put in a new oil filter and added Amsoil Flush, ran according
to instructions, then dropped oil, changed to a new filter again, and
replenished with Amsoil 15-40.

My 2002 E430 has developed missing segments on the LCD on the clock and temp
read-outs.  Sometimes they are all on and sometimes are not.
Is this a common problem?
How do I remove the instrument panel to check on the connections?

I'm a DIY guy but new to diesel. I just got an 84 300sd in great shape
that I want to run on veggie oil.  I want to do regular compression
tests on the engine to make sure I'm not hurting the engine.
I've never done a compression test.  Is it a big deal to do at home?

How do I remove the "seat cover" from the driver's seat?  I have removed
the screws at the lower edge of the rear panel, however the upholstery
appears to be secured at the side hinges.

   Very bizzare problem in my 82 300SD.  About one month ago, I lost
most of the heat from my auto climate control system.  Last year, heat
worked 100%!
