E320 Battery Problems10 Jan 2008 03:51 GMT5
Here I am again; I thank everyone for previous information on maintaining my
car.  The car is a 2000 E320, this time it appears to be the battery. I have
a feeling just to take it to Sears and get a Die-hard or should I take it to
MB and get a MB replacement battery.
Is there a precat on on some  107's?10 Jan 2008 01:58 GMT6
The  picture of the right catalytic converter on the 380sl and 560sl
in the Performance Products catalog shows what appears to be  a
cannister close to the exhaust manifold. Am I mistaken, or is this a
precatalytic converter?
Power steering fluid ('86 w123)10 Jan 2008 01:55 GMT5
The manual doesn't specify anything beyond, "use Mercedes-approved
oil."  If I get a quart of "power steering fluid" at Autozone, will
that work ok in the Mercedes?
Reviewing old posts here, they're mixed on using ATF vs. power

Hi Karl,
I've been reading your informative posts here for a while and trust your
expertise. I have an opportunity to obtain an 82 300TD for a good price. I
absorbed your previous info,
What is a 300TD - a wagon or a sedan?09 Jan 2008 22:52 GMT13
I saw an ad for a 1987 300TD. They have a sedan pictured. I understood that
TD meant station wagons.

Timing chain question09 Jan 2008 01:05 GMT1
I have a 1983 380SL with 195K miles.  I removed the valve cover and it has
the double timing chain.  I understand that the 1983 model had a single
chain, so I assume that the upgrade kit may have been done around 100K
miles.  My question is when should I replace this timing ...

Hey Guys and Gals,
Happy New Year! I am wondering how many of you have installed lowering
spring kit on your diesel... yourself or you had someone else installed...
either way.

ECT07 Jan 2008 12:55 GMT6
I have an SL500 '97.  Can anybody tell me about the ECT?  My check
engine light came on and the dealer ($90) tells me that I need an
engine control temperature module.........  My temp gage reads
low.........the heater works OK, but the temp gage reads low....  This
Clanking Catalytic Converter07 Jan 2008 03:10 GMT4
Hi again guys,
Turns out that the clanking noise I described in the previous thread
on chain slap was coming from inside the right catalytic converter of
my 380sl.  It's particularly noticeable when I start the car on cold

What do I need to remove to get to the cold start valve on a 1969
280SEL? Where is the cold start valve located?
Bad exerience with TheBenzBin.com and CarStuff.com04 Jan 2008 10:28 GMT4
In the hope that it may save others a bad experience, here's what
happened recently to me with these vendors.
I placed an order with thebenzbin.com in July for a muffler and header
pipe and it was my worst internet buying experience ever.   No email

Cracking Dash04 Jan 2008 01:46 GMT5
My '79 W123 300D is just beginning to show cracking on the dash. I
know this is a chronic problem with cars of this vintage, but I have
usually seen them with full, deep cracks. Is there any way to repair
these small cracks and prevent new ones?
