Driveshaft Vibration Dampener21 Feb 2008 20:57 GMT8
Some Mercedes have a rubber and metal disk at the front of the driveshaft
that is called a vibration dampener. Both my 230CE 4-speed and the donor

5-speed. The people that I talked to that will doing the work ...

Steering center tie-rod replacement17 Feb 2008 20:38 GMT4
84 300D is my car. I noticed some noise (and vibration) in the front
passenger tire and traced it to the center tie-rod of the steering
mechanism. (If you want to read more about this story I wrote that up
on my blog at dougsmb.blogspot.com)

300D Alternator Bolt13 Feb 2008 22:39 GMT2
Well, as I vaguely surmised, the bolt in the lower alternator bracket
was broken off--deep inside the channel. I have therefore given up and
made an appointment at the shop to have this extracted.
I mention this only as a follow-up to the many earlier posts, and to
82 380SL tach stuck on 1800 RPM13 Feb 2008 05:59 GMT2
After not being driven in over one month, I took my 82 380SL for some
exercise. When I started the car, I heard a strange knocking sound
that seemed to be from under the hood. I switched it off and checked
around, but could not see anything unusual, so I tried starting again.
Rislone & Oil Leak12 Feb 2008 16:09 GMT1
I put a can of Rislone in my 380sl a few days ago, and I now have oil
leaking from somewhere on my engine, yet to be determined.
I was just wondering if anyone who's used Rislone had oil leaks
afterwards, perhaps because it lossens deposits on seals,  or if it's

240 D blow by / oil usage.12 Feb 2008 04:53 GMT16
I have a 240 D with high oil usage that diminishes with the oil level
(as splash lube decreases, crank air dries out). Lack of an obvious
leak on the valve cover or head gasket, and the uniform coating of oil
under the hood make it look like blow by but I got some conflicting
Alternator "Screw" lower bolt '79 300D11 Feb 2008 03:45 GMT10
In the course of changing V-belts, I have discovered the apparent
absence of the lower bolt ("screw" according to the manual, as there
is no nut.) However, I do not have a parts list to determine the
specification of the item for replacement. Any help will be greatly
'brake lining wear' and 'check lamps'  warning - follow-up11 Feb 2008 01:10 GMT1
I have a short follow-up on the story I posted before. Basically the
'brake lining wear' warning is gone. I also noted 3 or 4 times the check
lamps' warning message and when I checked it indeed, a right stop bulb
did light. However later on it started working again, so it can not ...
