Fuse burns out on a W123 from 1976 when headlights are turned on31 Jan 2009 20:23 GMT5
I am trying to repair an old M230 W123 from 1976 that has a problem
where the fuse burns out as soon as you turn on the lights.
I have tried to disconnect both front lights and back lights and I
have disconnected the alternator. When I switch the lights on the fuse
New Diesel Engine31 Jan 2009 00:55 GMT3
Is it still possible, as it once was, to purchase a factory new 617 5
cyl. diesel engine from Mercedes-Benz?
I do not want a rebuilt engine or any after-market engine, but a
factory original NEW engine.  I used to see M-B ads for these, but
W123 Cruise Control Problems25 Jan 2009 11:36 GMT8
I installed cruise control on my 230CE. It has the wiring harness and
amplifier from a 1982 300D and the actuator on the engine is from a 84 190E.
The engine is from the 190E.
It doesn't work as well as I expected. First, it will not engage until about
1982 240D water leak24 Jan 2009 23:56 GMT3
I have an interior leak that causes water to come into the passenger side of
my 1982 240D.  After unplugging all drain holes and cleaning out leaves and
needles from the hood and trunk it still leaks.  After taking the carpets
out (again, this is passenger side only) I noticed ...
240D door lock problem23 Jan 2009 20:19 GMT2
First time posting here.  I have a quirky door lock problem on my 1980
240D.
- Vacuum system seems to work.  I can lock and unlock all of the door
from the *inside* by pushing down/pulling up on the driver's side lock
1994 MB 300 idle surges when cold23 Jan 2009 14:27 GMT4
It will start fine, but with no accelerator input the engine will run up to
over 1000, you will hear a solenoid or switch kick in, the rpm will cut,
sometimes stalling the engine, sometimes not, then the rpm will run up again
and this will go on and on only while cold.  Once ...
heater23 Jan 2009 14:19 GMT1
When I put on the heater on my 1989 560SEL, after a few moments it starts
smelling like wires are burning! I had a heater issue about a year and a
half ago and my mechanic (not a mb mechanic) said he replaced the fuse and
the blower came on. My questions are these where is the ...
Consumers Reports Seeks Bailout23 Jan 2009 03:25 GMT67
The line of companies willing to beg for money from Congress has just grown
longer. Consumers Reports has requested a Congressional bail out hearing.
In its petition, Consumers Reports cites the costs of massive restructuring
due to circumstances totally beyond its control.  ...
Montalban, Former Chrysler Pitchman, Dies At 8820 Jan 2009 21:10 GMT30
Former Chrysler pitchman Ricardo Montalban, known for the phrase "reeech
Corinthian leather" when referring to the Chysler Cordoba, died Wednesday
morning at home.  He was 88.  Interestingly, in the early Cordoba
commercials, the phrase he used was "fine Corinthian leather".
what brand of shocks is good for *87 420?20 Jan 2009 19:43 GMT2
my friend may have to change shocks on his car.  I saw gabriel shocks
on his car and I have to say they were a bit hard.  What brand/model
shock gives a nice (plush but firm) ride on these cars?
Thank you,
door locks in 1979 280se19 Jan 2009 17:22 GMT2
I've had a problem with my door locks, was sticking one day and when I
applied force, it seemed to snap over, now key has no effect on door
lock at all.
Any thoughts on how to reset this? Or is it now broken and requires
1999 300E - hard to start, stalls easily12 Jan 2009 16:50 GMT13
The subject line describes it all... it cranks but takes forever to
start, it might idle for a while but it stalls easily, and putting
the tranny in "D" will kill the engine unless I have it revving well
above idle.  Car is in generally good shape, but I'm driving it hardly
Directional tires?09 Jan 2009 21:57 GMT13
How does one address the directional aspect of a
tire when it comes to the spare? How critical is
it? Can you run a spare backwards long enough to
fix the flat or will running backwards cause rapid
Water and Coolant mix ratios question09 Jan 2009 08:08 GMT4
What's the effect of a more concentrated coolant/water mix? Too much
water seems obvious, but what about more coolant? MB coolant suggests
50/50 and 55/55. If car runs in a hot environment, would increasing
coolant concentration to 75% coolant / 25% water mix keep car cooler?
93 300E doors locked when connecting battery09 Jan 2009 05:28 GMT12
...key is in ignition, but I'm locked out.  Is there a way of unlocking from
under the hood?
TIA
