Brake Master Cylinders31 Jul 2003 17:35 GMT4
Does anybody know which master cylinders are suitable for disc brakes?
My van has metro 4-pots connected to a single-line 'tin can' master
cylinder.  There is loads of pedal travel before anything happens
which is a bit alarming as I'm used to the feel of the later type disc
Use of unleaded petrol31 Jul 2003 15:57 GMT6
I came across something interesting:
In every source I have seen so far, it says that unleaded petrol can be used
in Minis made after 1989, or in minis with hardened valve seats.
I found a list of engine serial numbers that are compatible with unleaded

The Muffin Man
FAQ started...30 Jul 2003 13:20 GMT1
I have set up the technical side of the FAQ now, and will start populating
it when I have some time.
The solution I chose for the FAQ means that we can do with several admins
keeping it up to date. Far cooler, however, is that ANYONE can post a FAQ

Just My Thoughts!30 Jul 2003 03:44 GMT5
Is it me or is this newsgroup starting to get just a bit annoying and nasty.
I mean the amount of postings that have nothing to do with the Mini and full
of abuse is getting tiring.  Plus there's the fact you let yourself open to
all kinds of spam mail simply using the newsgroup ...

Just bought a Mini Mayfair 1991 and am wondering if anyone can tell me what
the choke like cable next to the light switch is supposed to do. I have
followed the cable to a valve on a water pipe but what is it for.
Thanks

Stage 1 boost?29 Jul 2003 14:02 GMT2
I have seen some stage 1 tuning kits advertised in mini mags, and was
wondering if there is any noticable difference? Are they difficult to fit,
or would you recommend having them fit? If yes, where would be a good place
to have this done?

Carburetor question28 Jul 2003 23:10 GMT1
On the top of my 1970 1275 engine the carburetor has a little cap that
screws off with a sort of small piston on a spring doodad. Never seen
that on any US car I ever had.  In my repair manual it says somewhere to
"top off" there every 3 months. What does that mean? What do you top ...
