Calliper halves for 8.4" discs (torque wrench setting)14 Nov 2003 19:54 GMT4
I bought a second hand set of 8.4" disc brakes / hubs / driveshafts and
cleaned everything, including the callipers, in paraffin.
The Haynes Book says not to use petrol-based liquids but methylated spirit
or brake fluid and I think I know why.

Spluttering14 Nov 2003 08:23 GMT4
Once upon a time there was a 1300, running a 1 3/4 SU, and when you
really stuck your foot up it, it would splutter and occasionally
backfire out through the carb mouth. The 1300 went to a better place,
and an 1100 went in. Using the same carb, (and yes I realise this is

I have some more clutch related questions but need to get this one out of

Last night I was heading off into town to see some friends and decided to
take the Mini as I haven't had a chance to drive it for a couple of weeks.
Parking up in a side street, a middle aged gentleman walks up to me and asks
if I'm a member of a local Mini club.  A 5 minute ...

Thanks,

Water Leak09 Nov 2003 14:26 GMT6
Ok Winter's hear and it's raining cats and dogs outside (always does in
South Wales anyway ;O) and I've got a water leak problem.
There's a leak on the passenger side just inside the door apparently beneath

Hello all,

this?
Stalling engine07 Nov 2003 14:19 GMT2
I have a 1998 mini 1.3 injection, every time you slow down and put
your foot on the brake it stalls, you have to sit there with the
clutched diped and reving away,  sometimes if you are lucky it will
pick up again, its fine if you keep the revs up, and tick over is
Tax Hike07 Nov 2003 13:06 GMT17
Looks like it maybe even more beneficial to own a Mini, UK government may
increase the cost of taxing cars with large emissions.
They could scrap the 1500cc cut off between bands and an individual car,
make or model could be banded by its emissions.
