Rebuilding a 850 engine and Mk1 bodywork24 Jan 2004 12:35 GMT5
Someone has offered me a mini 1967 850 Mini and it's not in the best
shape, it needs some welding and the engine probably needs a rebuild
due to it not being run more than a few times since 1993.
1) What is invovled in an engine rebuild, i.e. what parts will have to
On the hunt for a new 'un...24 Jan 2004 10:36 GMT8
I've got my heart set on a 90s Cooper of sorts. There are the usual things
like checking under the carpets to see the condition of the floor, seeing
if the panels have been replaced, checking the provinence of the car, MoT
history, service history, any recent work etc...  Anything I ...

certifying a mini in ontario23 Jan 2004 22:22 GMT1
Hello.  I'm just wondering if there are any problems in certifying an
early '80's mini in Ontario?  I want this to be a daily driver.
Also, how do you certify a car, and where is this done?
Thanks
Engine steady bushes and earth strap23 Jan 2004 03:38 GMT5
I'm trying to replace the earth strap on the engine (1.3i spi) which runs
between the two ends of the upper engine steady. As I had to take the bolt
out I thought I would at the same time replace the bushes. My problem is
that having taken the bolt out, I cannot for the life of me ...
making  an automatic mini23 Jan 2004 03:34 GMT5
I would like to put a 1300 austin america engine and trans (auto) in
my 1968 mk1 mini (van). I have found the donor car and I can take what
I want for $800.00.  I think that is a bit to much.
What can I use off of it to turn my car (standard or aleast it was )?

it to split them and attach to a spare 78 box that I have? Will I need
any MINI specific tools? Are the reqired gasgets cheap?
Mk1 conversion21 Jan 2004 19:47 GMT3
I was looking at retro fitting Mk1 type equipment into the pickup and was
wondering what would need to be done for the electrics.  To fit the switch
panel it would mean changing the controls on the column as well to get rid
of the key barrel.  Would I need the whole column or is it ...
Hickuping Mini21 Jan 2004 17:27 GMT5
Ullo all
My Mini is prone to 'hickuping', ie. you get a total flat-spot in power as
it seems to mis-fires once and then carry on as normal.  This happens when
the engine is under load, usually during A-road driving etc.
Brake pedal height21 Jan 2004 17:20 GMT1
has anyone ever considered changing the position of the brake pedal,
which is much higher than the accelerator? Even though I'm used to it,
I must admit it's pretty awkward when you lift your foot from the
accelerator and have to lift your entire leg to press on the brake
