'92 Maxima - door sensor malfunction ...10 Jan 2005 15:21 GMT2
We are going through a cold spell here weatherwise.  The doors of the
car somedays are shut tightly.  Takes a bit of trouble opening them :-)
The doors of my '92 Maxima since this morning has starting lighting up
- indicating that the doors are open - when they are not.  Because of
3rd Gen Stereo replacement10 Jan 2005 05:01 GMT4
My 90 GXE's stereo (non-Bose) is finally toast.  Speaker cone gaskets are
gone, rt. rear speaker doesn't work, the head unit won't store presets,
everything sounds like poop, etc.
So I'm planning to just tear out all 4 speakers, amps and head unit and go

[Q] replace halogen light  ??09 Jan 2005 04:03 GMT3
I have Maxima 2001.  The Halogen light (left hand side near battery) is bad.  I
buy a bulb and tried to replace it but failed.  The procedures I doing:
  1. unplug wire -- successful
  2. remove rubber cap  -- failed.  I twist and pull still can NOT take it out.
Locks itself!07 Jan 2005 23:19 GMT1
My wife's '04 Maxima sometimes locks itself when the keys are in the
ignition and the engine is running.  (It might happen with the engine off
but the key in the acc. position.) I recall a time when I stepped out of the
car at the store while she was in it, and when I returned the ...
Issues with Climate Control07 Jan 2005 16:51 GMT2
Recently I switched from a 91 to a 2000 Maxima. To my disappointment,
2000 Maxima's climate control does not have an option of cool air
circulation through top vents (you can't have hot air supplied to your
feet, and cool air to your face). I also noticed that interior windows
ABS light, code 2506 Jan 2005 23:56 GMT3
I have a 2001 max SE and  was wondering what code 25 on the ABS code has to do
with, my mechanic says he thinks its the front wheel sensor but can't check it
because the sensor has no clip, it is hard wired right into the main ABS box
and would have to pull out the long wires and ...

Is My Mechanic Wrong?05 Jan 2005 22:59 GMT7
I took my 92 Maxima in because it was running hard, idling low and acting
like it wasn't getting any fuel.  The problem was on and off, but mostly
on.  The car ran better when it was in neutral, worse when it was in park.
My mechanic checked the fuel pump, but said it was fine, ...

96 Maxima Speedometer Head05 Jan 2005 14:32 GMT2
Does anyone have a schematic of the inside wiring of the speedometer head?
If not, does anyone know if it can be tested from the outside by checking
resistance between connector contacts? Thanks much for any assistance.
Grinding noise at startup04 Jan 2005 13:48 GMT2
My 2000 Max has recently started making a grinding bearing sound when I
first start it in the morning.  Unfortunately, the sound only lasts
about two seconds so I haven't been able to get my head under the hood
to see where the noise is coming from.  The sound only occurs the first
Replace ignition switch?03 Jan 2005 23:22 GMT1
Well, I'm noticing that the ignition has to be turned pretty much
against the stop to get cranking now.  '96 I30t.
Can the switch be replaced separately (like Honda), or does this part
include the lock cylinder too?  I saw a photo once that suggested the

Thinking about purchasing a Maxima. Any advice?03 Jan 2005 12:41 GMT14
I am in need of another car and am on a budget. I am looking for a
reasonably good performing car, 4 doors, safety and reliability. Obviously,
I can not have my cake and eat it too, but I have been told the Maxima
