My alero won't shift out of park.  I called the dealership and they
said something called a bitsy (SP?) switch is probably stuck due to
cold weather.  I'm assuming this is on the brake, which allows the car
to be shifted out of park.  Allowing the car to warm up.

My sister has a 1986 Olds 98 Regency which actually I've never even seen

is lit and the car has a miss throughout the rpm range.
I also have an 86 Astro with the 12 pin connector. I can jumper two pins (the
