Weight different between XU alloy & iron blocks?27 Apr 2004 19:36 GMT2
Anyone know how much heavier the iron XU blocks are compared to the alloy
ones? It seems like most/all 1998cc XU engines are iron blocks - such as the
Citroen XM's 2 litre turbo engine, or the 2 litre 16v engine fitted to later
405's. Just wondering what I could expect to happen if ...

Has anyone encountered any problems with the air con on 306's. I had
mine refilled last year with coolant and it worked for a while, but
then i had a leak.
Apparently there are two pipes which can go. High pressure or Low

Does anyone know if the Rover 418 Turbo Diesel(94), which uses a
Peugeot engine, also uses a Peugeot alternator? I'm looking for a
replacement from salvage but would like to know from which other

I have a Peugeot 406 LX 2.0 ltr estate 1997 model.
I have lost the readings on the petrol gauge, rev counter and speedo
these don't do anything when I start the car or drive it. I have a
feeling that these instruments are on the same circuit that's why I feel

I've been reading some problems here about the BSI of 307s and a
milage -odometer- problem.
How can i be sure the 307 i will buy is free of such problems?

We have owned a '99 306XSi since new and have had a consistent auto gear
change "thump" when the 306 starts to accelerate from a strationary
position.
Peugeot help has been to acknowledge the "problem" and have replaced the

i have discovered an oil leak on my 306 xsi.
it smells like gear oil and is clean so i assume its leaking from the gear
box .
has anybody had same problem?

hi need some help with my 406  my speedo comes on when the car is cold in
the mornings but goes out after it warms up ? { mabye 5 to ten mins } any
ideas??

I am planning to have my timing belt replaced at 66000 miles - should
I be looking to replace anything else at the same time such as
tensioners, idlers etc? Or is just changing the belt OK?

I have a diesel 306 - its done 127:000miles I'm having problems working out
whether or not I'm getting good miles per gallon.
I put ?10 worth of diesel in at a time until the light comes on (approx 12
litres ) and I am getting about 90 miles from this. Is this good / bad? If

I normally use LRP in mt Peugeot 205 1.6 GTI (1989: XU5JA)
This petrol is getting harder to obtain. Can I run on unleaded (say 95
octane) without modification. If not what is the best course of action.
I tend not to drive on motorways or tow.
