Having broken my leg :-( I decided (unwisely it now seems) to lend my
trusty 1994 405 to a friend, who has since lost the key. This was one of
the infra red types.
I phoned the local main dealer about getting a replacement and he quoted

My 1994 405 turbo diesel is becoming more difficult to start in the
morning. It's done 100k miles and it's taking longer and longer for
the engine to start - I let the heater light go out then activate the
starter, the engine turns fine, it fires then stops.  It seems to need

306 1.9TD - Clicking sound is heard when I attempt to start engine.
Is this the starter motor ?? Any suggestions to bring it back to life, or is
it normally a case of replacement.
