The wastegate on my turbo seems to open too soon. I rigged up a gauge
to the take off on the right hand side of the inlet manifold and I get
9psi max reading. This seems too low. Does anyone know the factory
setting for the max maniflod pressure on this engine?
faulty starter motor - access14 Sep 2005 16:58 GMT3
So, the wife's car starter motor is on the decline. How do I know because I
have to use a hammer to hit the motor to make the brushes connect.
So Ineed to take it out and it looks quite difficult as it's behind the
engine (1.6 petrol) and looks difficult to access.

307 XSI - barmy HUD - any advise? (and a soft reset howto) - longish13 Sep 2005 19:31 GMT1
I've got a 52 307 XSI (worse car I've ever had, tbh. anti polution fault
every summer, bits take months to turn up..) It has just been in for a
safety recall (code X8Z - something to do with 'salt water on road and
power steering do not mix'). Also, whilst it was there, the radio ...

I have a 2000 306 HDi Meridian (90) and would like to know if any of you out
there have any info regarding problems with running the HDi engine on 100%
Bio-Diesel.
I have heard various different moans about injector/fuel pump problems and
205 GTi Borken Manifold stud13 Sep 2005 16:54 GMT2
Sussed why the engine sounded like a tractor! One of the bottom studs on the
back of the head for the exhaust manifold has bust and left the remains of
the stud in the head. So, the air box needs to come off and the manifold off
too but what are my chances of getting the broken ...

Just done 850 miles from London to halfway down France and back mostly
at 70-80 mph and got 46.5 mpg out of a 100,000mile 405 1769cc turbo

405 washer reservoir - how get out?11 Sep 2005 18:16 GMT4
My front washer pump seems to have failed - 1992 405 TD estate. I've
taken off the spring holding clip on the big reservoir in front of the
driver, but I can't work out what fiddly movements are necessary to get
the reservoir out to change the pump. Any guidance welcome. Thanks.

On my Peugeot 306 1.6 1998, I have noticed that when temperatures are hot
outside my engine isnt performing as well as it should do, as it runs very

Fitting a towbar to a 406 estate -- DIY job?10 Sep 2005 20:59 GMT4
I've had a 406 diesel estate for about 3 months now -- well happy with
it (it's a 1999 2.0 HDi).  I now need a towbar with single electrics.
Does anyone have a view on whether it's a DIY job (I'm pretty competent
at most DIY jobs on a car including electrics, but have little
Wipers stuck on10 Sep 2005 18:50 GMT1
Good day,
I experienced a strange problem with my 2004, 307 1.6 this morning.
On the way to work my wipers switched themselves on and no matter what I do,
besides switching off the car, I cannot get them to stop. (I don't have rain

I have just bought and installed a Clarion CD Changer for my 406 (99-), but
the Clarion head unit seems to be ignoring it.
It's a second-hand changer so it may be broken, but I have heard that the
Clarion (MUX) head unit may need re-initialising in order for it to talk to
