| Strange noises! | 30 Oct 2006 19:23 GMT | 3 |
Started my V reg 306 HDi this morning about to set off for work and after about 30 seconds the cars running noise actually changed from a normal sound to a very loud dull (bad boy exhaust) noise as I set off. It is a little frosty and damp this morning but I've never had this

My 02 406 Exec has just flashed up 'Economy mode active' on the display. I was worried this was the same as 'safe mode' but the car is behaving normally and the message has not rturned on subsequent journeys. Any ideas anyone, regards Phil.

It is just in front of my right knee, and has two arrows, one pointing down the other up with a large X between them. It pushes in and lights up but I can not detect any being activated. Does anyone have a hand book that tells you what this switch is for?. Hotfoot

The air con on my 1999 406 Hdi has started to make and rattling sound which increases and decreases with engine speed. At first I thought is was the water pump, however if I switch off the air con I can hear what I believe is the compressor shut down and then it stops. The sound ...

| 406 Brake pad replacement - help req.... | 27 Oct 2006 21:39 GMT | 4 |
Got an R-reg 406GLX 2.1TD and it sounds like the pads are worn down now so obviously they need replacing. Is this an easy job? On previous cars (no anti-lock and niceties) it's just been a case of taking off the wheel, removing a bold and swinging the chunk of metal up that

| Paraffin engine flush - myth? | 27 Oct 2006 17:38 GMT | 1 |
I have a noisy XUD diesel engine on my 205 - sounds like an old 8 valve fiesta, it's really clicky when you rev it. Firstly is this normal? And secondly if not, is it true that you can flush the engine with half-half cheap engine oil and paraffin and run for 15 minutes to solve

I have an X reg Meridian 1.8 and in the last 2 days the exhaust note has become rather "bad boy loud"... upon inspection it seems that a clamp/fitting that joins the pipe coming from the rear of the back box/silencer to the main exhaust pipe

| Fuel leak | 24 Oct 2006 19:06 GMT | 1 |
Noticed when getting a slow puncture patched up that my 406 has been leaking petrol. I did wonder why I'd been doing less than a hundred miles per fifteen quid for the past few weeks.
