What would be a main cause if the ignition switch will only go into accessory and lock (won't go forward at all)? Yes it's the right key... Tried turning the wheel and moving the shifter while trying to turn the key and no luck.

I'm debating whether to do it myself or take it to a garage. I read in the Haynes manual about it & it doesn't seem too hard, but I don't particularly like crawling under cars, & I can imagine the gymnastics needed to clean the surfaces.
