engine life expectancy27 Apr 2005 00:45 GMT3
I'm looking to buy an 89 Firebird Formula from someone I know.  It has
140,000 miles on it.  Presuming it's been well maintained from day one, how
many miles can I expect that engine to live through before it dies.
TIA!!!
84 V6 - 2 different CRs? (8.4:1 or 8.9:1)25 Apr 2005 05:46 GMT4
My '84 Firebird came w/ the LC1 engine (Code '1' in 8th spot of VIN) that is an 8.4:1 CR.
Apparently there was another V6 in '84 w/ slightly higher CR (8.9:1) - Can anyone tell me more about this slightly
higher CR V6?

84 FBird: ? on bolt pattern and solution for bent rim(s)24 Apr 2005 23:36 GMT2
First just thought I'd share an experience with others so that some may benefit from this possible solution...
We have an (almost) 1 owner very original 84 Firebird, 2.8V6, F41 suspension. For over a decade balancing a few of the
rims has been problematic sometimes yielding wildly ...
Spark Plug Heat Range - V6 2.8L24 Apr 2005 23:34 GMT4
My '84 2.8L V6 calls for an AC R43TS.
However in my experience the R44T or R45T are better choices (heat range) for my old 1970 SBC 350. I don't get too
caught up in brands but do like to choose plugs based on heat range. I'm wondering if the SAME is true for the 84 2.8L
V6??? E.g. ...
Squeaking brakes on "praticular new" 2000 Camaro SS23 Apr 2005 17:31 GMT9
I have had a 2000 Camaro SS w/ 14,000 miles on it for a few years now, since
I got it new in 2001.  I have not driven it regularly for this or that for
the last few years, but have maintained it great ... seasonal oil changes
(Mobile one sync), tire rotation, air cleaner, etc.  and ...
'90 V6 Firebird Idling problem23 Apr 2005 13:35 GMT3
So straight to the point.  My car is a bone stock automatic.  When I put it
in gear (reverse or forward, just as long as it isn't in park) and continue
to idle, my car begins to idle roughly.  When I turn on the A/C a similar
thing happens, but rougher.  Also (although possibly ...

Preserving Collectibles21 Apr 2005 06:34 GMT17
In the past I have stated there are Very Few "Rare" Third Gen cars. I
should have said there are Very Few "Special" or "One of a Kind" Third gens.
It seams to me the Collectible cars are falling prey to Idiots &
butt-pirates. Who are either parting them out with out knowing what ...

73 Camaro Type LT19 Apr 2005 21:30 GMT1
A buddy of mine has a 73 Camaro Type LT and is looking for an original GM
front spoiler that will fit the lower valance.  The holes are there for the
spoiler, but he can't find a parts depot or reproduction parts dealer that
has that spoiler.  Can someone tell me if another ...
1969 convertable firebird design questions19 Apr 2005 01:32 GMT2
I have googled till my fingers bled, and can not come up with the answer, so
I thought I would throw out my thoughts and get some feedback.
My intension on with this car is not a restoration.  It also not a straight
line car.  I want a car that will handle itself in the curves, and ...
1974 Black and Gold SD-455 TA Show Car17 Apr 2005 05:36 GMT1
A car alleged to be the 1974 Chicago Auto Show black and gold Trans Am
appeared on E-bay for sale.  According to the link the car was updated by GM
to 1976 specs over the years and sold to a GM accountant after show duties
were done.  Look at the link.
1974 455 Rebuild16 Apr 2005 08:10 GMT9
Well, I finished my project a couple of days ago.  Took just over 4 weeks to
go through the engine and transmission.  I had a local shop do the tranny,
and I had a Stage 2 shift kit installed along with an Allison 18-2100 stall
converter.  They said the transmission had some sludge ...
