LS1 Bulllit Proof ???30 Oct 2006 13:07 GMT13
I know someone that has a LS1 in their firebird. How bullet proof are
these engines ? He uses the rev limiter as a shift point. I told him it
won't last too long driving it like that but he said he read on the web you
can't kill them they are "bullet proof"  He smokes the tires ...
CR problem29 Oct 2006 18:52 GMT9
I'm building a pontiac 68 400 and looking to put after market heads on.
With the goal of maintaining the ability to run 90 octane pump gas, I am
torn between some info
given to me.

I've got an 84 Firebird and am looking at converting to a DELAY wiper
switch.
I need the part #(s) (or simply verification they are different) for
the turn signal that is the 'base' for the stalk mount. The stalk is a
bubbles in radiator22 Oct 2006 14:35 GMT1
Someone mentioned bubble in the coolant can indicate a bad head gasket. I do
have some bubbles in there when its running but not a hell of a lot . But
there is no oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil. Should I not have any
bubble in the radiator at all or is some normal
Will a big block fit in an '87 Trans Am?21 Oct 2006 14:01 GMT13
Curious if I can fit a big block Chevy in my '87 Trans Am.  I've heard "It
won't fit", "It'll fit but you have to shoehorn it in even after blistering
the firewall", and, "Sure, it'll fit just fine!  No problem."
 Anybody have firsthand knowledge?
head gasket went out on '93 firebird21 Oct 2006 09:59 GMT5
my head gaskets went out my 93 pontiac firebird....formula v-8....they said
it would cost me about $892.50 to get it fixed and of course i would have to
buy the head gasket kit....do you think that's a reasonable price to pay to
get the gaskets fixed?
'88-'90 TBI to TPI switch21 Oct 2006 03:44 GMT3
Ok, I'm pretty sure I'll be able to handle this job, but I'd like some
feedback to make sure I'm doing the right thing first. My friend has a
1990 camaro RS with the 305 bored out to a 347, and we want to put the
TPI intake from my old 1988 IROC on his engine. will I need the entire
Oil pressure19 Oct 2006 03:03 GMT2
Today after my car heated up and was running hotter than usuall the oil
pressure went kinda low like down between the 30lbs and zero. simply put
like if a gas gauge was on 1/4 tank thats where my oil pressure was at the
1/4 mark seeing that 30lbs is halfway. Now its not in the ...
Temperature Spike19 Oct 2006 02:51 GMT13
My '86 TA had a pretty bad leak on the back plate of the water pump. After 5
minutes of idle the temp would spike as far as the needle could go. I
replaced the pump today. No leaks but the temp still keeps spiking as high
as it can go. Please help am I missing something.....
Breaking old bolts on '79 Trans Am19 Oct 2006 01:12 GMT5
Getting this TA apart for restoration has been a huge undertaking.  All the
bolts are frozen and are breaking half the time.  I have one bolt holding
the front sway bar on that just turns.  It bolts into the frame and I can
see through a little hole that the bolt is spinning ...
Temp Spike Still17 Oct 2006 12:39 GMT1
I changed my t-stat. Purged all the air out of the system. Still the same
damn temp spike as before. So now I'm changing every damn sensor on the
coolant system. But before I do let me know what you think. I know the temp
spike is false because I opened the radiator cap after the ...
Air Con Pump15 Oct 2006 17:23 GMT1
Got a 94 4th gen Camaro fitted with 3.4 v6 and the Air con pump is falling
apart or rather the pulley & clutch part are.
Been offered a pump from a 98 Z28 but the guy who's got it doesn't know if
it will fit
Back in the day14 Oct 2006 07:13 GMT5
I was thinking about fbodyfreak's  Mustang race. Back in the day a guy could
take a quick look under the hood listen to the engine, smell the exhaust and
just about tell how quick a car was.  Now with NOS, and forced induction you
can't tell sh.t. It's almost easier to see if ...
Opinions on 1980 Firebird Formula Turbo13 Oct 2006 15:59 GMT1
I ran across a 1980 Firebird Formula Turbo this week and would like any
comments on the vehicle's desireability.
It has a 301 cu inch V-8, automatic with the turbo.  Any reliability issues
with that setup?
