| Advice Sought on Fixing a Broken Odometer on an '83 944 | 27 Oct 2003 22:27 GMT | 7 |
The odometer on an '83 944 that I recently picked up is not working - mph work fine. The previous owner said it broke and he never bothered having it repaired. Since the trip segment is set to zeroes I'm assuming he tried to reset it while moving and broke a gear (I have read that ...

| 944 Rear Main Seal | 23 Oct 2003 13:55 GMT | 2 |
A word to those of you who are replacing your clutches - just as you would change the pressure plate, throwout and pilot bearing at that time, be sure that you also remove the flywheel and replace the rear main seal. New cheeshead botls on the flywheel are also a cheap investment.

I recently picked up an '83 944. The car is in great shape mechanically but needs some cosmetic help in the interior due to spending a lot of time in the Arizona desert. It seems that most of the interior plastic parts have become very brittle.

Hey, I just posted here a few days ago. If you remember my 86 was heating up almost the 3rd mark on the water temp gauge, then cooling down, then heating up (it seems to run cooler when I'm stopping and going in town and is steady hot on the highway). I am going to try to flush the ...

Just bought a 1987 944 (NA). I do not have an owners manual (but looking for one) and need to know what is the yellow screw-off cap that sits to the rear of the oil dipstick for? I am assuming it is not the oil fill, because I think I found that on the right front, and it isn't ...

1st thing I need to do when I start up from cold is pump the brakes. The peddle goes straight to the floor. One pump and it's back up. I've checked fluid and booked it in for a service. I would like to know what it could be.

So having tried every combination of heating control, I am finally ready to admit that my heat isn't working. I worked when I bought the car (20 days ago) but isn't now. Can't seem to find any mention of a heater core, or anything else about heating in my Haynes manual. Any ideas ...

I'm looking for recommendations for front brake pads on my 944, the sensor indicates I need replacements. Are the OEM pads the best to use or are there some better pads out there. Specifically with better braking power, less brake dust, no brake squeal, and longer brake pad life? ...
