Can air bag steering wheel be replaced?31 Aug 2004 04:48 GMT3
My 87 951 has blown the bags in the past and the air bag controller needs to
be replaced anyhow, just a track car now, can aftermarket steering wheels be
fitted or are you stuck with the airbag wheel forever?

The release button on the emergency brake popped out and the lever
will not hold its position. Has anyone ever had this happen to them
and know how to fix it?

Ok thanks for being patient with me..
So I had this German car shop listen this loud knocking noise that the car
made when it was cold only, and they did say I had lifter noise but also
said the t-belt was so loose that it was causing something to bang against

I just picked up a 1987 944S.  It's in pretty good shape and I have all the
records for the last 6 years.
Are the 944S's know to have really crappy air conditioning?  It was rather
warm today in the low 90's and humid and I switched on the air... Basically

at a resonable price.  I believe it has been discontinued.

     Can anyone tell me if these Motronic DME units will work in the same
1985.5 944? I bought one from a parts yard, installed it, and still no
spark. I'm wondering if they're compatible because the numbers aren't the
same. The parts yard claimed it came from a running 1985 944.

I have an 84 944 na.  Like most older 944's it had a tendency to run
on the hot side in hot weather. (90f+).  I tried coolant additives
which helped but in a recent exercise to change the thermo switch on
the radiator after I removed the fan housing I used compressed air to

Does anyone know if the tranny input shaft seal can be changed without removing
the transmission?
Sounds like a dumb question, but if the coupler slides far enough forward, it
seems like I might be able to snake the old seal out and the new one in.

i currently have a 944 2.5 8v with 116000 , 2 months ago the radiator burst
and a new one instaled.
I now have a slight problem that when i first start the car it idles rough
for aprox, 40 seconds .

Im looking at buying another Porsche this time the 951 rather then a
NA. Aside from the usual prepurchase inspection is there anything I
should be looking for first. I am told that there is a small leak in

hello, can someone assist me with this. The red center light(look like an

ok gents---besides sears-- who makes a battery for the 944?   It needs 675
cold cranking amps with an exterior size of 7" high 7 inches deep and 10 "
long.  Any help greatly appreciated!

I'm just looking for some general information from experienced owners.  I am
vaguely considering purchasing a 944 for both its practical and Porschephile
reasons.
The car would be driven about 4-500 miles per week for work.  It would have

Anyone has replaced rear bushing? I hear a 'TOC" when turning or when
I start moving. The sound come from the back. I suspect two bushing
