1983 944 parts:  I need a steering wheel30 Sep 2004 17:37 GMT7
Don't you have to love teenage sons?  How do you break the steering
wheel?  In the drive way?
If you know where I can find an 83 933 steering wheel, please  pass on
contact information and price.
Belt tensioner tube?29 Sep 2004 13:37 GMT2
I replaced my alternator today and the tensioner tube won't thread
the from one end (it was hanging almost off at one end, like it had
backed off). Is there a trick to screwing it back in, or is it simply
stripped or cross-threaded and needs replacement?

Double DIN radio in 94427 Sep 2004 07:13 GMT1
Anyone know if a double DIN radio will fit into the dash of an 87 944? I am
contemplating a fancy DVD type unit so I can watch movies while club racing
(just kidding). But it is possible to use the lower blank slot ? Is it a
full opening?
A/C Temperature switch27 Sep 2004 07:11 GMT1
Does anybody knows if the knob that adjust the ac temperature is
controlled by a relay, and if it is so, can it be by-passed. My ac
works but the temperature is not as cold as it should be.
Question re: turbo "S" designation27 Sep 2004 02:54 GMT2
I'm getting conflicting information.
Was the "S" designation dropped in later model years ('88 or '89 and later),
and the "S" enhancements made standard on the turbo?  Or do all "S" cars
carry the "S" designation?

Problem #1: Switches for the electric windows:
After the windows failed to operate, I removed the switches from the
door panel, took them apart, and used a small file to clean the contacts.
My clutch died and I need a mechanic in LA24 Sep 2004 22:42 GMT7
I've always done my own work so I know no mechanics that I trust. But
after looking at the ammount of work needed to replace the clutch in my
'84 944 I'm ready to pay someone to do it. Does anyone in this group
know of a good porsche mechanic in Los Angeles?

Thank you all for the help relative to the battery--- I finally went to the
net for AC Delco and found that there were two batteries listed for them---
one was too big the other was less than the cca that I had been told to get
but more than what I had (40r6yr was the part number). ...
Wipers Problem22 Sep 2004 19:30 GMT2
I noticed for a while that the "Intermittent" setting for the wipers
does not work at all. All the other settings work fine, except this
one. Could this be a relay or a wiring problem? If it is a wiring
problem, is it hard to fix?
944 t throttle idle problem 1985.122 Sep 2004 17:27 GMT3
Does anyone have suggestions on what is wrong with my Porsche 944 idle?  I
had the engine pulled and all the oil seals replaced. The shop messed up
something and won?t fix the problem.  The problem is during a cold
start-up the engine will have variations from 0 to 1000 RPMs and ...
'86 944 Alarm Control Unit22 Sep 2004 08:24 GMT2
The Alarm Control Unit in my '86 944 has failed. (I know it's the unit as I
swapped it with a known good unit and it cured the problem.) Falsely indicates
an intrusion even with the unit turned off - horn, dean DME, etc. Relays appear
good so I suspect a failed component.

Upgrading Alternator21 Sep 2004 23:52 GMT2
I own a 1985 (Early) 944, and I was wondering what the highest output
alternator I can have installed is. I plan on installing a very high
end car audio system soon, and I want to make sure the electrical
system is able to handle the increased power consumption. I still have
