lifter noise29 Nov 2004 18:39 GMT4
I have a 1986 944 that has developed a pecking sound coming from the
engine.  This occured after replacing the valve stem seals.  I cannot
figure out what is causing it.  If anybody has any info please let me
know.
Lets talk tires28 Nov 2004 19:44 GMT11
I will soon be replacing my tires on my 86 951.  I currently have 225 50 R
16 on all 4.  I now find out this is the size for the back and the front
should be 205 55 R 16.  I assume the first 2 numbers represent height and
width.  Is it that important the front be different?  This is ...

New car next week...22 Nov 2004 08:25 GMT2
Hi all, just discovered this newsgroup.  I just traded in my 1988 lux for a
1991 S2.  can't wait to pick it up!!  A couple of  questions.  I understand
you can fit 968 mirrors and a steering wheel onto a 944.  Is this correct?
Anyone know a supplier of 968 parts apart from ...
Rear Axle question21 Nov 2004 10:53 GMT13
Last night I started hearing a clicking or rapping noise coming from the
right rear of the car.  I am guessing it is a CV joint going bad.(150k on
the car).  I will know more this week when I take it apart.  This is my
question.  I can get rebuilt half shafts for about $200 a piece. ...
944 hasn't been started in 2-3 years21 Nov 2004 10:06 GMT5
Sadly my friend has a late 1980's 944 low miles, garage kept but has been
sitting for 2-3 years without starting.  What kind of work would need to
be done to get it startable without ruining anything? Must/should the
engine be rebuilt? fuel lines? Trans? Not sure if I should buy it.
84 944 Water Pump Replacement20 Nov 2004 10:58 GMT3
I recently had the water pump replaced in my '84 944.  The new pump was what
the mechanic called an "updated" pump.  It went about 6,000 mi. then failed.
I got a warranty replacement and it seems to be working OK (no leaks), but
when I drive the car at highway speeds the temperature ...

Anyone have a 944 (looking for a 1986-1999) that they are looking to sell? I am
looking for someone looking to sell a 944 local around New York.  Needs to be
in good condition with a reasonable amount of miles on it and in nice
condition.  Please do e-mail me at Info@AlbionStamps ...

Throttle Position Sensor?18 Nov 2004 07:34 GMT5
My 944 idles high and as everything else is in good shape and it
only happens *after* the car is warmed up, I think it's the TPS. It
bugs me that everything I've read simply says to replace it, but
doesn't say what goes wrong with the old one. Anyone know what causes
924 cold engine15 Nov 2004 06:26 GMT1
Starting my 924 when it is cold, gives me a bit of trouble. I need to
press the gas before is reacts, and when it comes on it sounds a bit
'jumpy', and the idle speed goes up and down. It sometimes dies again
after some seconds if I don't continue with the gas.
944 rear bumper shocks14 Nov 2004 19:48 GMT3
I was rearended in my '86 944NA Thursday. Very minor damage - pushed the bumper
forward and folded the exhaust system. The Jetta that hit me will likely be
totalled. A tribute to the 944 design, IMO.
Although the bumper pushed forward as designed, there is only cosmetic damage.
rough idle14 Nov 2004 19:24 GMT16
when i first start my car, it has a rough idle where the rmp's slightly
vary between 900 and 1200. sometimes, it gets real crazy and kinda
bounces. the rpms will go all the way to about 1500 and drop all the way
to about 500. it continuosly does it until i drive for a bit and it ...
Engine Mounts14 Nov 2004 16:01 GMT8
I've got a vibration in my drive train which I suspect are the engine mounts
in my 83-944.  These are the originals and I have 56k miles on the car.
Can some one give me an estimate to replace them in US $??
Does it hurt the car to drive with worn mounts??
