I went to pop my hood today, and it wouldn't release. There was resistance on the lever, but it was like it wouldn't pull back far enough. After a few pulls, I noticed that a bulge would develop under the carpet just above the lever.

The heater control lever (top right) broke off (my fault) on my early 85' 944. This is not really a problem now since it's summer, but when winter comes, I will be kicking myself. Can the lever itself just be replaced, or do I need to replace the whole panel with the other two
