944 won't start29 Jun 2006 05:50 GMT11
I have an 86 944. I just died on me one day, and now I can't start it.
When it does start it runs fine, and I've checked just about
everything. The battery is good, and so is the rest of the electrical
system. The fuel system is fine, and the dme is in good working order.
944 turbo loose brake pads28 Jun 2006 15:22 GMT5
the rear pads are loose in the caliper.  i don't put a lot of miles on,
and these pads were installed with no noise for a few years before the
"clunking" noise started,  they still have lots of material and work
fine, but are really loose.  they are repco metalmasters.  i saw an old

Last belt, roolers, w/pump etc. done, by prior owner, at about 110k.  I am
now nearing 150k, when should I get then done again?  I have read/heard
anywhere from 40k to 60k.  It is a summer car, driven about 6 to 8k a year &
not raced, just norml driving.  Mobil-1 has been used @ 4 ...
944 Turbo Stalling27 Jun 2006 21:27 GMT2
All:
My 1987 944 Turbo was stalling intermittently, so I replaced the DME relay
(P/N 993...), which seems to be the most common solution to this problem.
This appeared to correct the problem for a month or so, but the engine
Sunroof conversion question22 Jun 2006 05:35 GMT1
I have a 85.5 944 (new style car but old style sunroof. go figure).
The car came with no sunroof motor.  I bought replacement gears for the
new style not knowing the difference...  Long story short:  I now hate
my non-functional sunroof.  Does anyone have knowledge on converting
Cylinder compression values21 Jun 2006 05:54 GMT1
I encouraged my 15 year old son to get a good project car in order to
learn auto mechanics.  He found a really great 1984 944 with 90k miles
and has been doing minor repairs so far.  School is out and we've
started figuring out what major work is needed.  We know of some pretty
83 Porsche 944 has a leaky somthin....20 Jun 2006 15:42 GMT2
I am a new Porsche owner recently purchasing a 1983 944. However I
live in an area where porsche specialists are impossible to find. I
have a leak in my Porsche and I was curious if anyone could tell me
what it could be. I believe it is a gasket leak that needs to be
'88 944 alternator cooling shroud?20 Jun 2006 00:42 GMT4
just got back from a training class in Florida.  I drove the 944 and
left it at the office when I went to the airport instead of my company
car.  When I got back into town, it was about 85-90 degrees out and I
did get stuck in some traffic.  I noticed my volt gauge was tending ...
Cooling fans on a '78 92417 Jun 2006 07:26 GMT1
Whoever owned my 924 before I fancied themselves a bit of an electrical
engineer, andmanaged to really hack up the car.  The car had AC in it at
one time (I am unsure if it was factory installed or an add on).  This was
removed prior to the person I purchased it from (or so they ...
Interior lights problem - can you help?13 Jun 2006 01:06 GMT1
The interior lights on my '85 oval-dash 944 Lux have suddenly developed a
problem. Despite checking out both the lamp units, and replacing both
courtesy light switches on the doors, the lamps now only go dim, not out
completely. I could hear a relay clicking so swapped that with ...

Anyone out there "in the know" can advise me on the following problem: Electric front windows are not operational. I have initially changed the 25amp fuse (which I beleive is in the correct place in the fuse box) to no avail - they still won't work. They were initially stuck down ...

Overheating11 Jun 2006 16:44 GMT13
On a long fast trip yesterday my '86 2.5l Lux was overheating. I used the
interior heater to keep the engine temp down (at the expense of roasting
myself even with the windows open). On testing the system today:

This forum is dead09 Jun 2006 10:02 GMT2
I just think that everyone should just start using rennlist or the
pelican parts forum.  I mean no offense but there is like 1 new thread
every 2 days?  Thats pathetic.  With pelican parts you get replys
within like 10 minutes after you posted.
