84 944 Oil in air cleaner27 Jan 2007 21:37 GMT42
I looked through the pdf parts diagram and I can't tell for sure if the
early 944's have a pcv valve or not.  I just pulled the air cleaner and
found a puddle of oil in the cleaner box.  It appears to be dripping
through the throttle body.  I'm assuming this could be from a clogged
Is it normal for 944's to be loud?27 Jan 2007 21:11 GMT4
My 1985.1 944 seems to be very loud within the interior. I was just
wondering if this is normal? Is there anyway to make them more
quieter?
Repair Manual24 Jan 2007 23:05 GMT3
I need a good repair manual for my 1986 944 turbo.   I bought the Haynes
manual and it is not detailed enough and I would like ore depth of coverage
of the vehicle. There seems to be a ton of stuff for the 911 models but not
much for the 944.  Anyone have any links or info.
Cam belt whine15 Jan 2007 06:41 GMT2
Firstly - a very happy New Year to everyone !
Secondly - I recently had the timing and balance belts, rollers etc done on
my late 85 944 Lux. Now, on start-up, there is a distinct whine from the
front of the engine, which gets less noticeable once motor is fully warmed
Clatter on cold start13 Jan 2007 07:41 GMT1
Hi Gearheads,
When I start my car on a cold morning (of which we are having
many these days even in sunny california) I hear a regular clatter,
from the engine bay, like a plastic fan hitting something. This goes
strut brace11 Jan 2007 14:38 GMT3
Performance Products is having a sale on strut braces. For the 944 they
have two types for the same price. One is by Cambermeister and is a
steel rod. The other is is by Racing dynamics and is an aluminum
casting. Does anyone have experience with either of these? Which is
Indicator Problem 94411 Jan 2007 07:03 GMT1
I have an 84 944.. when applying the indicator there is no ticking nor
is there a light signal at the bulbs. Only the green dash indicator
light comes on and stays on solidly while the indicator handle is being
depressed.. Anyone have a rectification to this problem? Dave
Fuel pump problem.09 Jan 2007 07:13 GMT6
Hi Porscheheads,
I have an 84 2.5 LUX.
The other day I had difficulty starting it and then while driving it showed
all the symptoms of low fuel pressure. Cutting out under acceleration etc.
Bad vibration & not idling07 Jan 2007 14:57 GMT11
I've got a 1987 944 and noticed an unusual vibration from the engine when
first starting and when driving, not as noticable.  Now the car won't idle.
The engine stalls at traffic lights so I made it home yesterday before I got
stranded.  I also noticed a large puff of white smoke ...
Wheel shudder at 60 - 80 mph07 Jan 2007 00:59 GMT12
My 89 S2 has a wheel shudder and I can't get rid of it. It is through
the steering so I am fairly sure it is from the front. I have had the
wheels balanced - I watched them do it and they got it right - but to no
avail. I have read on various sites that this can be a problem with ...
Looking for rear turbo s wheels07 Jan 2007 00:49 GMT2
I'm looking for two extra rear turbo S wheels - the 7 spoke sport cup
wheels (9Jx16 ET 60) that were on an '88 Turbo S and the '89-'91 Turbo
(I don't believe '90 & '91 were brought into the US).
Anyhow, cosmetic condition isn't important as they will be used as
My 1987 heater seems to deliver less heat to the passanger compartment07 Jan 2007 00:23 GMT7
My 1987 heater seems to deliver less heat.
When I push in the DEFROST button, on this 944 the system defaults to full
HEAT, ac compressor on, and all heat directed through the windshield vents.
In that condition I get full heat as expected.  VERY HOT and everything
Windshield fluid pump '86 944T05 Jan 2007 13:41 GMT11
I went to fill the windshield fluid reservoir yesterday and
the tubing broke off at a T in the top of the reservoir
tank.  The design seems odd, and I'm not sure I understand
it.  At the reservoir cap, there are two penetrations into

944 S2 - Oil light on and will not start01 Jan 2007 01:25 GMT4
My S2's oil light is on and the car battles to start. When it does, one
of the belts is squealing. I had all of the belts replaced less than
1,500km ago. The oil level is fine. The car has 170,000km on the clock.
Where do I start?
