Need repairs in Phoenix30 Aug 2005 05:57 GMT1
I've moved to Phoenix Arizona recently and need to take my Boxster in for
some engine work.  Can anyone recommend a fair, competent garage in the
Phoenix area?
Thanks,
Porsche - There is no Substitute!  How Old?24 Aug 2005 16:27 GMT2
Anybody have an idea how long Porsche has used the slogan - There is
no substitute?
My earliest recollection is in the move Risky Business in 1983 but
wondered if it had been used before that or possibly as a result of
AutoBond paint protection?20 Aug 2005 17:12 GMT2
So it looks like my friend is narrowing in on a new 997. Dealer is offering
LoJack and AutoBond (sp.?) finish protection. Is the former really needed,
given Porsche's excellent internal security? And is the latter a real value
add, or a Rusty Jones-type dealer margin generator?
My first Porsche20 Aug 2005 14:27 GMT1
Hi, I'm about to buy my first Porsche. A 996 Carrera 2 2001-2003,
manual transmission most likely. I'll get one with less than 50.000 km
and perfect leather. Apart from that I don't know what to look for.
What are common problems with these cars ? What should I look for
Centerforce Clutch20 Aug 2005 10:52 GMT2
I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction after hours
of googling I am not getting that far.
I want to get a centerforce clutch kit for my '90 S2.  There are no
distributors in Australia so I'll have to import one. So im looking for a

After putting my car over 6000 RPM for a while,
the car puts out a lot of heat at the back + there's
always this "metallic" smell.
The heat, OK but the smell??
Cayman S13 Aug 2005 00:03 GMT2
The more I looked at it today, the more I liked it.  Since it's been
slow, I thought I'd just let y'all know.
Hope everyone's cars are giving them their best as they were designed.

928 and 912E vs. Boxster09 Aug 2005 16:05 GMT5
I am wondering if the Boxster shares any of the power, comfort and
cabin space (for a small person anyway) of a 928, and the economy and
reliability of a 912E?  My main concern really is in its reliability.
I'd appreciate your input.
2005 Carrera Rotors and Calipers09 Aug 2005 15:42 GMT2
My father has a stock 2005 Carrera that is less than six months old and
only has about 4k miles on it.  It is a daily driver although it does
not see much rain.
I was looking at the car over the weekend and I noticed that the rotors
New 997 exhaust rattle when cold04 Aug 2005 05:42 GMT4
From collecting the car newm I'm getting a strong rattle from what sounds
like the exhaust box, only when cold. Problem goes away completely after
moving off for 50 yards and only returns after the engine has completely
cooled again
lightweight flywheel04 Aug 2005 01:32 GMT3
Anyone any experience with lightweight flywheels on a 996? Or is
modding suspension a better approach as a first step?
Boxster - Long Term / High Mileage Update @ 140K - FInal03 Aug 2005 20:57 GMT1
Last post on this topic - and probably on AAP <frown>
Well, I finally sold my 1998 Arctic Silver Boxster. It had +140K on the
clock, and the body/paint/interior looked like brand new, even after 7
years of use.
Lightweight flywheel03 Aug 2005 17:28 GMT1
Was wondering if anyone had insights into the relative advantages of
lightweight flyweel or modding suspension on a 996? Anyone done both?
Whch was niggest payoff?
