9-5 - HOT SID10 Mar 2004 08:06 GMT2
While on a multi-hour road trip, I noticed something I hadn't seen
before.  I realized the central control panel (SID, stereo, ACC, etc)
was radiating enough heat that I could feel it 5-6" away.  The whole
panel was pretty warm, but the SID panel and the ACC display were
Dexter's Basement... 86-89 SAAB 9000 Turbo APC controller - PN 752415010 Mar 2004 03:06 GMT1
Salutations:
Before it becomes a problem - I think it will be wise to start a standing
thread for any SAAB treasures that come up as we clean out the basement.
'Dexter's Basement...' seems somehow appropriate.
Saab 9-3 Steering wheel play (crossposted).09 Mar 2004 22:07 GMT6
I have a 2000 9-3 which has just failed it's MOT :o(
Some Wan**r has jacked it up under a footwell and split a seam. I've
welded that back up so it shouldn't be a problem on the re-test.
More worrying though, is that the tester says there is too much free

Convertible top stopped working 9-3, fluid level?09 Mar 2004 05:34 GMT1
I have a '99 9-3se and several years ago, while under warranty of
course, the top stopped and the dealer attributed it to low hydraulic
fluid in the to mechanism.  Does anyone have any idea how to check
this and what type of fluid should be used to refill  it?  We are now

ABS warning light ventilation fan a/c - HELP09 Mar 2004 01:51 GMT1
1995 900SE w. ACC
About a month ago, the ABS warning light began to come on while I am
driving.  It resets whenever I restart the engine.
Around that time I noticed that the ventilation doesn't always come
Water pump replacement09 Mar 2004 00:40 GMT2
Just reading some NG messages and noticed someone wrote a squeaking and
then grinding noise on a cold start that goes away at highway speeds.
I have the same problem with noise but also engine is close to
overheating at idle.  I wonder if this could be my water pump on my '94
How do I tell leather from leatherette ?08 Mar 2004 21:33 GMT9
I have a '99 9-3 with black seats. I bought car used, and I have now started
to wonder if the seats are leather or leatherette. Not that it would be
important, I'm happy with them anyway. It would just be interesting to know.
So, how do I tell which one is it?
Saggy Headlining Question (UK)08 Mar 2004 20:36 GMT11
I am contemplating buying a Saab 9000 (used).
I have read there is a problem regarding the headlining
"drooping" - whatever THAT may mean.
Is this an expensive thing to correct?
hatch latch won't latch08 Mar 2004 19:20 GMT4
This just started tonight. When I close the hatch, the latch doesn't "catch."
1995 9000CS.
I can't find anything that would be interfering with it and I've pumped almost
a whole can of WD40 into it.
Squeaky SAAB 900s08 Mar 2004 18:16 GMT7
1998 SAAB 900s 2.0 ltr model, 138,000 miles.
I had 2nd gear fixed a few months ago and since then and the onset of colder
weather whenever I first run the car on a cold morning here in the UK there
is a loudish squeaking sound coming from the passenger side of the car this
wheels on 900s08 Mar 2004 17:59 GMT2
I was interested in putting a larger wheel on my 95 900s convertible.  I did
some calculations with info from the tire rack site and the wheels and tires
I am considering would give me an extra inch in diameter.  Does anyone have
any experience as to how much this increase would ...
Timing belt or chain08 Mar 2004 17:50 GMT6
According to the Haynes manual my 1997 9000 2.0 LPT has a timing
*chain*.  My colleague who followed me and got a 9-3 2.0 LPT (1998 or
1999 model) thinks his has a timing belt.
Does the above 9-3 have a belt or a chain please?
