| 99 Turbo update - vroom vroom | 14 Dec 2004 20:52 GMT | 17 |
Well, the beastie runs & drives. After building one good engine out of two bad ones and more than a little creative merging of newer parts in an older car, the '78 99 Turbo I've been working on is driveable.

| steam at radiator (c900) | 13 Dec 2004 23:23 GMT | 12 |
I've been noticing some steam rising from the grille of my 1992 900 S (NA). This happens exactly once per drive, lasts roughly 30 seconds, and coincides with the engine approaching operating temperature (and thus presumably the thermostat opening). It is most pronounced when it is ...

| Serpentine Belt tensioner | 13 Dec 2004 20:00 GMT | 5 |
I have just replaced the timing chain and the balancer chain on a 1996 9000 Aero Automatic with the engine in the car. How does one compress the serpentine belt tensioner again to put the belt back on.

| 93 9000 CSE SRS light is on | 13 Dec 2004 11:09 GMT | 1 |
Does it mean I need to replace the entire airbag or just a gizmo somewhere?
Signature Look at the world today. Is there anything more pitiful? What madness there is. What blindness. What unintelligent leadership. A scurrying mass of

| [Saab_c900] centre consoles for C900's without them | 13 Dec 2004 00:33 GMT | 2 |
What's your opinion on fitting centre consoles to mid-80's and earlier C900's which didn't have them as standard equipment?
>From all the info I've been able to gather so far, it appears as though a centre console from any pre-1990 C900 will fit into an earlier year C900

| 9000 with squeaking belt | 11 Dec 2004 16:17 GMT | 5 |
First real cold weather (freezing temperatures) and when starting the car the (serpentine) belt squeaks. Year is 1997 and miles 79k. With the present squeak that goes away reasonably quickly how long have I got before it packs up? Do I get 500-700 miles out of it?

| have a set of Ronal Minilite's now (nice black-painted ones!). | 11 Dec 2004 03:35 GMT | 4 |
I have acquired a set of Saab's version of the Ronal Minilite wheels (ie. the Carroll Shellby's), and am looking at tyres to go with the wheels when I'm ready to put them onto my 1982/83 900S. I know that choice of tyre, etc. varies greatly depending where you are in

| Saab/Clarion CD unit 45 18 940 | 10 Dec 2004 14:58 GMT | 3 |
Anyone happen to have the schematic or pinout of the 13 conductor plug from this unit? I just pulled mine out of my 98 9000CSE as it's not working. I would like to know the logic between the Radio and the CD unit so I can connect my Satellite radio unit to the radio instead of ...

I just purchased a 2000 9-3 S Convertible here in the US and I had a couple of questions as far as maintenance. There is a local Saab shop with a decent reputation but I was wondering about some of the basic maintenance.

| Relays behind the fuse box | 09 Dec 2004 21:26 GMT | 4 |
Some time ago ... and I mean some time ago, I asked what the relays behind the fuse box did. I didn't get an answer because my description of the location was somewhat inadequate. Anyway, a picture is worth a thousand words so ...

| headlight frustration | 09 Dec 2004 20:54 GMT | 4 |
For the second time, I've found the inability to shut off the headlights on my 97 9000 very annoying. This time, we were in a long line of cars driving through a civil war battlefield in the dark. Volunteers had lit a small candle for every one of the 26,000 soldiers killed or ...
