A friend has got a 9-3 (he bought it because of me ;-) ).  External
temperature gauge is faulty :-)
Where is the external air temperature sensor located?  (BTW. I don't
have a manual for 9-3s).

Just picked up a 1989 900 turbo convertible with electrical issues. I
have 2 main problems-wiper motor runs but not strong enough to make it
across the windshield + at idle the engine surges. I know there are
some electrical bugs in the car because when I turn on the wipers the

Knock sensor?16 Nov 2006 19:10 GMT4
I recently asked my (usually competent) independent mechanic
if the knock sensor on my plain vanilla `85 900 was working
correctly.  He says I don't have one.  Is he correct?
liquid gaskets16 Nov 2006 17:15 GMT9
I am putting together my '01 Viggen engine after balancing chain
failure and see that oil pan and timing cover use liquid gaskets
instead of traditional paper ones.
The local dealer recommends anaerobic sealant for oil pan ($45) and

re 99 Saab oil leak14 Nov 2006 23:07 GMT1
Check where it is leaking.
The famous place is between Cilinderhead and Engine body just near the ingnition distributer.
Solution, remove the head, renew gasket en use on the edge extra liquid gasket material.
The cilinder head needs to be machined before you can put it back.
abs pump14 Nov 2006 21:53 GMT1
My 9000 cd 16V 1988 has a problem in its abs pump: the liquid comes off
and I can't brake (the brake is hard). Saab here in Italy wants 800 €
for the new item; Is there anyone who knows where to buy spare cheaper
parts?
Stubborn Front Brake Rotor14 Nov 2006 19:34 GMT7
I'm doing rotors and pads on a 1999, 9-3, manual.
The passenger side worked like a charm, everything came off nicely and
went back together in no time.
The driver side however is proving to be quite a dog. First, the screw
leak in heater13 Nov 2006 23:22 GMT7
My 97 9000 Aero has, I think, developed a leak in or near the heater core.
Two major symptoms bring me to this conclusion. First, I can smell
anti-freeze in the car when the heat is turned on. No such smell in the
summertime. Second, when I come back to the car after it has been ...
C900 Rear Wash Wipe13 Nov 2006 19:51 GMT14
Grrrr.  Stopped working, just when I finally get the wash fluid pumping
through the wiper goes flaky!
I hit the button on the dash and the wiper swings up across the screen but
wont come back.  There is a whirring noise coming from the unit.  If I get
coolant level keeps dropping.12 Nov 2006 20:49 GMT11
I have a 2006 9-3 Aero.  The coolant level has needed refilling twice in the
last 5 months.  Has anyone had this same problem?   There are no leaks that
I can see or find, no marks on the garage floor.  Any help or ideas are
welcome
