how to replace serpentine belt only SL2?28 Feb 2005 01:17 GMT2
We have a new to us 98 SL2 on which the serpentine belt just cracked
and split. We think that the tensioner is fine, but need to replace the
serpentine belt. The previous owner did not provide a manual, and we
are stuck. Any advice or instructions would be greatly appreciated.
Gas Milage27 Feb 2005 14:33 GMT2
I have a 1996 Saturn SC2 DOHC.  I usually go about 230 miles on a tank of
gas.  The last couple of months, I can barely go 200 miles.  I drive mostly
in the city, short trips, which I have always done.  I am sure the cold
weather has something to do with it, since I allow the car to ...

Most of the time it runs fine.
If she leaves the rear defroster on and turns the key off, the battery goes
dead.
Sometimes, after the car starts normally, the aftermarket CD player/radio

Running out of gas..not empty25 Feb 2005 22:54 GMT3
My wife ran the SC2 (1999) out of gas a couple weeks ago. She did it
again the next week and now today it "ran out" on the freeway. She got
a splash from the highway helper, went to the gas station, and it only
took 5gallons to fill it. (the highway helper didnt dump more than a
excessive wind noise SC225 Feb 2005 03:41 GMT4
Well, the saga continues.
I finally got the stupid ventshades off my windows on my '02 SC2, and had
the door applique panels replaced (paint chipping).
Now when driving at speeds of 50+ I get excessive wind noise coming from the
rec.autos.makers.saturn FAQs24 Feb 2005 22:30 GMT5
People get in the habbit of replying to threads without leaving Year
and model info in body of the text. I was thinking that perhaps we
"regs/semi-regs" should try to enforce some standards in the "headers".
We all know these should be Saturns so the year and model of the car
Radio in '99 SL224 Feb 2005 17:16 GMT1
The volume knob in my '99 SL2 is *very* loose, and the pushbutton
function (switch between CD & radio) no longer works.  I'm trying to
figure out whether or not I can fix it - two dealerships have thus far
offered to replace the radio en masse, but not fix it.  Does anyone
HELP !!!.Transmission ????23 Feb 2005 18:34 GMT3
 I have a 1996 SL2 auto 105,000 miles been a nice car. Today I think
the transmission is going. When I go from 1st to 2nd gear there is a bang
very hard shift like you hit a pot hole that is what I first believed.
But it did it again. When I am over 45 to 50  mph no trouble seems ...
What is a resonable Max miles I should expect from 95 SW2?23 Feb 2005 11:13 GMT4
I have an SW2 that is still doing pretty well at 164,000 miles.  I've
been pretty good about keeping it up with my services, but I have an
expensive service coming up.  My friends that tell me that the car will
likely be having some serious trouble in the near future as is
1993 Saturn SL223 Feb 2005 11:09 GMT3
"Check Engine Light" comes on from time to time. I've had a mechanic check
it with his diagnostic computer it said the EGR vavle was bad, he replaced
it, about a year later the check engine light came on from time to time.
Then it was the O2 sensor, it was replaced.
