Need advice on maintaining my '96 SL23 Apr 2006 11:29 GMT8
I have a '96 SL base model I bought new a decade ago.  It has a
manual transmission and AC.  It now has 140K on the clock and still
gets me around just fine, and with gas at 3 bucks a gallon, I like the
fact that I get 37 MPG in rush hour highway traffic.
New Saturns23 Apr 2006 08:49 GMT8
Have you guys seen the new Saturn line up and concept(s) at
www.saturnfans.com ?
What do you think? I love the SKY, Aura and PreVUE. We'll all miss polymer
panels, but the new designs are sure exciting!
Tranmission and Radiator22 Apr 2006 16:33 GMT10
Does anyone have information on how the transmission and radiator are
linked in the 97 SL2s?
Can replacing the transmission affect the coolant system in any manner?
Are there connections between the transmission and radiator that need

My 1994 Saturn SW2 temp light is flashing the mechanic just replaced
the water pump after it was leaking and I'm going back in for them to
troubleshoot. Any ideas why the light is flashing even with the new
water pump, antifreeze and a recent new radiator? The temp gauge is

96 SL2 Shut-off problem 21 Apr 2006 00:29 GMT4
My 96SL2 (AT) has recently developed a problem when I shut it off.  The
engine seems to shut off BEFORE I can get the key moved into the "lock"
position, and then I can't move the key into "lock" or remove it from the
ignition.  I have to start the car and then try again.  It ...
Clutch Replacement Expense on SW1 & SW220 Apr 2006 22:57 GMT3
I just spoke to the shop manager at a Saturn dealer here in town
(Columbus, OH) and he said that SW1 & 2 clutches are very durable but
extremely expensive to replace.  He said that "you need to take the
transmission apart"  and quoted something like $1,300 for the job!
charging system problem... what else can be wrong?20 Apr 2006 17:27 GMT6
I'm trying to help a friend figure out what is wrong with a 93 SL2, in
which the battery repeatedly keeps going dead.  It is definitely some
kind of charging system problem.
The battery, alternator, drive belt, and belt tensioner have all been
98 S-series horn question20 Apr 2006 12:39 GMT5
Is there a common problem with these?  Our 98 SL-2 had the second horn
die.  I will get a replacement tomorrow.  On the first the electronic
relay failed.  Will find out what happened to the replacment when it
comes out of the car.

I have a 2001  LW200 Saturn. While it was the winter, I was using sometimes

Transmission questions.  Dont want my mechanic to know how oblivious I am.18 Apr 2006 14:25 GMT4
Bought a 98 SL2 w/108k. I'm not mechanically inclinded, have been
ripped off by a variety of mechanics ( thats a fact, not bitter
paranoia or delusions).  So, I've been trying to educate myself a wee
bit before taking the Saturn into a shop.
Best time to shift?....18 Apr 2006 05:54 GMT7
I've been wondering this for quite a while.  I've got a 99 SL1, manual
trans, and was wondering:  when is the best time to shift?  Especially
concerning gas mileage, is it better to shift around 2,000 rpm's if
accelerating slowly?  How about the best shift points to save on
