Really cool website for a '41 M5 through eBay10 Jun 2005 21:04 GMT2
Hey Gang,
There is a '41 M5 at auction on eBay right now.  The ad links to a
website that shows the construction of this truck.  The guy modified it
heavily, but it looks like he did quality work.  Thought some of you
OT: Eastwoods vs Harbor Freight10 Jun 2005 21:01 GMT7
Order once from them and who sends out more catalogs?  I swear I must get a
Harbor Freight catalog at least once a week and usually find some Chinese
made item in there I can't live without... this week a bead blast cabinet
light kit and their A/C vacuum pump.

Salt2Salt at the Dyno10 Jun 2005 13:08 GMT2
I just got the preliminary results back from Greg.  Our little 185
flathead 6 just turned 230 HP on the engine dyno.  Greg will have the
photos and documentation scanned in and I will post them this weekend.
Our calculations indicate that we can need about 200 HP to make 150 MPH
"standard" viscous fan clutches - how well do they work?10 Jun 2005 04:55 GMT14
just looking for an opinion on the standard, non-thermostatic type fan
clutches sold as replacements for the stock Studebaker ones by various
vendors.  After a few phone calls and emails it seems that I've
determined that all the new replacement fan clutches are just straight

Truck working again10 Jun 2005 01:33 GMT3
Thanks to everyone chipping in with ideas. The truck seems to be fixed
now but I still don't know for sure what the problem was.  I'm thinking
it was a combination of things as I can't see any one of them causing
the problem to be as severe as it was.
eBay 52 hardtop09 Jun 2005 22:32 GMT2
Has anyone spotted the 52 hardtop with the 50 bulletnose front clip?
The owner intended to rod it, but if one of our SDC'rs wanted to
recreate a clone of the "Bulletnose Hardtop" featured in TW last year -
here might be a good start. and you wouldn't feel guilty about cutting
