| TV and Car Shows (ot) | 26 Aug 2005 03:15 GMT | 5 |
Seems the good shows are getting better (Rides), and the turds are sinking to the bottom (Texas Hardtails). I can't even watch the commercial teasers for some of them, let alone the shows themselves...

The 61 'gamble' Hawk I offered to the NG arrived at Sal's for brakes and detailing. Found out is has a rebuilt engine and some nice spare parts in the trunk, no cream puff, but damn cheap for a finned Hawk. http://www.stude.com/61/

| Block cleaning | 25 Aug 2005 15:44 GMT | 9 |
I have to wonder why Studebaker could not have spent a few minutes getting the sand out of the V8 blocks in production. I cleaned out another one today, and as usual, it was loaded with sand. JP/Maryland

I have to wonder about people, sometimes? $128,000.00 invested. But, I'll take $95,000.00 if you'd care to BIN. Gee, I wish I could do that to my Packard Hawk. Think maybe I could spend that much and get $95K for it? I think I'd rather hammer a rusty nail into my right ...

| Engines | 25 Aug 2005 13:40 GMT | 13 |
I decided to organize some of my cast iron laying around the garage. I built a R2 (not shown in the pix) and ran it in on the test stand, then I built a R1 out of parts laying around. I also put the Jet City cam engine on a stand and parked them all next to the Nemish R2. Now ...

screw the gas prices, and the $3.03 a gallon ( R2 hawk - needs 91 octane). It was time to drive the car to work. Felt real good! Probably going to do the same with the Avanti tomorrow. Who knows, the next time I have to fill up, 3 bucks might be a bargain...

| New oil activity? <sort of OT> | 25 Aug 2005 00:09 GMT | 13 |
With oil prices this high are any of you guys in oil country seeing any increase in activity? I seem to recall that a lot of US oil wasn't worth the expense to drill and pump it as cheap as oil was a few years ago but obviously things have changed now.
