1953 oil bath air cleaner12 Sep 2005 23:08 GMT1
Can anyone tell me if there are two different oil bath cleaners for
1953 Studeabkers Commander v-8's? I have two. On the bottom of the part
that screws on to the Carb (bottom of the large round part) the surface
is concave (curves up). The other one curves down. The only inner

The truck stops here! Northeast zone meet (picture links)12 Sep 2005 21:08 GMT3
My wife Jane and I drove to the SDC Northeast Zone Meet in Enfield, CT on
Friday evening in my '48 M5.  It was about 100 miles from our home in
Dartmouth, Mass.  After about 40 miles, a serious engine miss developed.  Of
course, I had decided to take 2-lane back roads through ...

armrests...?12 Sep 2005 20:41 GMT7
while gutting the interior of my '55 coupe yesterday I noticed... I
don't have armrests in the rear seat!  Is this an artifact of the C3
trim level or did they just get lost while the car was reupholstered?
thanks,
Interesting R3 Car 12 Sep 2005 20:37 GMT2
Found this on Ebay the other day.  Got to chatting with the owner about the
factory Packard V8 in the car.  He swears it's a Packard R3 engine, because
someone told him (an SDC member) you could tell by the valve covers.  I've
looked at the engine and ask for the engine serial ...
T Cab Tires12 Sep 2005 20:35 GMT5
The T Cab has L78 15 bias ply tires.  Time for some new treads.  I like
the white wall look on the T Cab.  I imagine if I stay with the white
wall tire I would have to use a passenger car tire.  Does anyone know
what size L78 15 is in todays tire sizes?
upper outer trunnion...12 Sep 2005 14:56 GMT6
anyone buy one from SASCO recently?  this is the part that stumped my
alignment guy.  Took a closer look at it myself today; it feels like
there's some kind of hole in the rear of it, but both a 5.5mm and 7/16"
allen wrench are too small to grab in it.  (I can almost feel the 7/16"

Vacancy filled (OT)12 Sep 2005 14:23 GMT12
Got back from Vegas last night, net a nice young couple who managed to
leave N.O. on Wed - boy, did they have some stories. They're starting
over in Las Vegas, they'll stay in my place for 2 months until they get
on their feet. Neither has a Studebaker, but he was admiring the ...

Pacific South West Zone Meet Photos12 Sep 2005 08:17 GMT2
I have no attended my first official SDC meet and had a great time, met a
lot of great Studebaker nuts and saw some beautiful cars.  The meet was at
Boomtown in Reno Nevada, hosted by the Sagebrush Chapter.  They were
excellent hosts!  We got rained on a couple times, but as far ...

I'm putting an NOS twin-traction DANA 44 in the pikup.  Anyone know what to

Lubricant, but I'm fresh out!
Thanks for any suggestions!!
Gas prices, Labor Day 2006 (sort of OT)12 Sep 2005 02:38 GMT35
For months the media has kept saying we had record high oil and gas
prices, and until this past week it simply hasn’t been true. The record
high was set in 1981 at just over $3 a gallon in inflation adjusted
dollars, the only honest way to measure prices over time.
