heavy duty FOM?19 Apr 2006 01:32 GMT3
All right, I think I will probably be calling JP later to work out a
deal on the R1 motor, but before I do, does anyone have a heavy duty
(watercooled) FOM for sale for a reasonable price?  If not I will just
bolt up my existing trans but if I were going to swap now would be the
Dial indicator alignment?18 Apr 2006 22:20 GMT7
I'm trying to align the bellhousing to a new V8, and I'm stumped on how
to make sure the rod attached to crank is properly centered before
mounting the dial indicator. I have one with a magnetic base, but I
can't figure out how to center it. What's the secret? Do I need a

Trans swap question18 Apr 2006 16:48 GMT6
I have finally gotten around to putting a 700R4 into the Hawk and I am
having some difficulty with the starter clearance.  The instructions said to
use a Ford starter, which I tried, but when I turned the wheel the power
steering unit hit the starter and wouldn't  let the wheel ...

<OT> Your first new car?18 Apr 2006 02:13 GMT22
Frank Starr's mention of paying 7 bucks for a puller back in '63 made me
remember car prices back then. My first brand new car was a '69 VW
Superbeetle. I bought it at the tail end of the year and got a big discount
($250). So instead of paying a whopping $2100 Canadian, it cost ...
R-motor questions...18 Apr 2006 01:53 GMT19
1) will a standard V-8 fuel pump work OK on an R1 motor?  or is the R1
fuel pump really required  for best performance?
2) If swapping a standard Lark engine for an R1 Lark engine, do the
pulleys for PS and A/C just bolt up to the damper, or are there spacers
Watch out in Oklahoma (sort of OT)18 Apr 2006 00:33 GMT3
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol's newest weapon. Don't even try to get away
from this thing. I understand from the fast bike guys in the ECTA they
will go 175 mph right out of the box. Many of these things at Maxton go
will over 200mph!
