Used/New Gears ????28 Apr 2006 04:20 GMT4
Anybody out there want to part with or trade a new or good used  Ring &
Pinion gear set for a 63 Avanti.
I knew the car had a very low rear end in it the first time I drove it. Want
to drive it not trailer it to Omaha in September. Has a 4.55 in it now and
Museum quality?28 Apr 2006 02:27 GMT1
Is this guy for real? Take a close look at the pictures of this1963 Avanti.
Is there a lot of rust on the chrome parts on the engine? Is the oil pan
crushed? Is there a lot of rust on the underside? The hog troughs don't look
to healthy, But the bid is up to 13K!
Cheap Avati trap. 28 Apr 2006 02:21 GMT4
As you recall, my first impulse was to shoot the car in the head,
but it's turning into the cheap Avanti trap. I went from parting it out,
to just tossing the engine in to show it runs. Then it went to hooking
everything up and installing all the loose parts. Todays job was ...
GL-4 only for steering box?28 Apr 2006 01:39 GMT8
I thought I'd seen this somewhere, and sure enough I found in the '58
supplement (but not in the 1956 manual!) "do not use hypoid lubricant"
which I assume means that there is "yellow" metal in the steering box
and therefore one should use GL-4 or lower (not GL-5 or GL-6.)  ...

David looking for 3.07 rear end?27 Apr 2006 23:05 GMT2
I have lost a members email address due to a computer change and needed to
get in touch with him... I remember his name was David and he was looking
for a 3.07 rear end. I think he was from SC.  Worked for a TV station there.
I have some info for him about the 3.07.

Where can I find a 1963 Avanti steering worm gear with a 16.1 ratio? Or a

It's Not Easy... <OT>27 Apr 2006 17:40 GMT13
Decided to kill some weeds/green briar, poison ivy, etc. yesterday.
Got out the pump-up spray rig, carefully measured out the correct amount of
herbicide into the measuring cup.  Filled the tank with three gallons of
water, and commenced spraying.  Walked all over the place, ...

Day time running lights27 Apr 2006 10:41 GMT24
I am trying to somehow turn off the operation of my day time lamps.
One way i think i can take them off is to take out the fuse. Is this
smart, will it effect anyhting else or is it safe? or is there another
way to go about this?

Very dad end to a rare car27 Apr 2006 04:45 GMT3
This probably falls in the catagory of" I am going to restore it
someday". Check out the 56 Hardtop. I think there were either 263 or
267 made in 56. Maybe the hood would be worth the BIN and then leave
the rest.
