FS - NICE '57 Clipper & Spares11 Sep 2006 01:05 GMT4
Help!  I am retiring and relocating and must sell my '57 Clipper Sedan.
It is a straight, never-rusted California car that needs finishing.  It
has had a LOT of work done already (rechromed, repainted,
resupercharged, etc., etc.)  It needs to have the new interior installed

Latest shop pics10 Sep 2006 23:39 GMT3
Here's some pics I just took from the shop. I took a pic of every car
and truck, except for the 57 Silver Hawk and my 63 Daytona, as they are
inside and I couldn't get a decent pic of them. I then cranked up my
(or, what used to be mine) '51 flat bed dump truck and took some pics

an new, tested and accurate oil pressure gauge with the engine running
at 180 degrees and with 15 W 40 in the crankcase:

Missing the good old days......OT (sigh)10 Sep 2006 14:42 GMT62
I remember the early days when I found this NG and thought I had found
paradise. All these wonderful people that loved Studebakes as much, or
even more, than I did all in one place talking about, what else,
Studebakers. These were the salad days, and they were good. Then one

A friend called me last night to ask a favor. He wanted me to pick
up his 59  H/T from the shop and drive it to his house and take his
new red 62 H/T in to be repaired. A 15 min. drive to the repair shop 1

Studebaker Engines and Ethanol Blended Gas10 Sep 2006 11:20 GMT5
Hi Guys, Boy, I'm just loaded with questions today! Here in New Jersey
gas stations are now required to sell gasoline that is blended with
anywhere between 10% - 15% ethanol. I've noticed that the 289 engine in
my 63 GT Hawk has been idling a bit rougher with this new gas
Speedo noise10 Sep 2006 01:57 GMT8
I've been driving my new hawk everywhere since having it licensed and have
started to notice a rumbling noise starting at 20mph coming from the dash. I
think it is the speedo or the speedo cable. Should I remove the cable from
the speedo and oil it or is it time for a new cable or ...
one more step to a leak free car...10 Sep 2006 01:54 GMT8
I had one of those brain fade moments last week... made some new
gaskets for the power steering reservoir with cork gasket paper, but
neglected to check the thickness of the cork I was using, as I'd done
this job before on another pump.  Turns out in the generic Fel-Pro
Avanti radiator question09 Sep 2006 20:02 GMT5
Besides the radiator Studebaker used in the first Avanti's, is there any
other kind that would work, without lots of fabrication?  I know removing
them is a major job.  Thanks!

289 V8 Oil Pressure Question09 Sep 2006 15:05 GMT11
Hi Studidudes,
Does anyone know what the "normal" engine hot oil pressure range is
supposed to be for a 1956 Studebaker 289 V8 engine? All I know is that
the oil pressure is normally lower in 62' and earlier engines than in

Closed Amusment Parks<OT>09 Sep 2006 06:00 GMT14
It was with some sadness that I heard The Pavilion at Myrtle Beach is
closing, and that got me to thinking about another great amusement park
that is no longer with us, Palisades Amusement Park in New Jersey.
This was one of those great old amusement parks that started as a
