'55 update...05 Sep 2006 03:52 GMT8
so I'm probably not going to deliberately burn it to the ground,
anymore... but the car will try to if I drive it too far.  P/S is
working although with some non-stock hose routing.  Would still like to
get my hands on an original pressure hose if I could, I'm going to have
R2 Lark oil pan05 Sep 2006 03:33 GMT6
Recently bought a R2 Lark .  Oil pan is beat to heck.  Does anyone know
where I can purchase another one?  One odd factor about this oil pan is
that connected to the dip stick line is a larger open line.  Is this
supposed to have a cap on top of it?  Looks like a cooling line or

The left side is another story.  I can't seem to get it off.  Any

Your Guess is as Good as Mine...04 Sep 2006 22:44 GMT5
Why would a black-plate California car this seemingly nice be towed to
an impound lot and then not claimed at this late date? Anybody got any
theories (shouldn't be hard to scare up on this forum!) Weird...

Let the engine rebuild begin04 Sep 2006 15:54 GMT12
As soon as I can figure out how to get the block attached to the engine
stand.  I'm thinking that the best place to bolt to the block is in the
holes where the bell housing bolts go.
Is it better to attach the stand to the back or the front of the engine?
please help me put my car together04 Sep 2006 15:47 GMT15
need to know any info or pics you could offer about the correct routing
of P/S hoses, speedo cable, e-brake cable, all that stuff around the
steering box in my '55 coupe.  Also if anyone has any NOS power steering
hoses (yeah right!) I am at my wit's end trying to make what I ...
possible clutch problem?04 Sep 2006 15:38 GMT10
Any guesses what this problem could be?  Have all stock clutch in my '55
except for Fidanza aluminum flywheel.  With clutch pedal flat to the
floor, there's a ticking noise that sounds exactly like a loose valve.
With the clutch about 1" off the floor, no noise.  With the clutch ...

Power Steering Pump Belt04 Sep 2006 02:31 GMT5
What would the next size smaller be than the Gates 7380  11A0965 belt?  This
is the belt off my power steering pump and it's got a little play in it and
there's no more room for tightening.
Anybody else feel a little nervous about those two rubber hoses underneath

It's alive!03 Sep 2006 18:27 GMT7
Well, my grandma's 63 Hawk is alive! I cranked it up today for the
first time in a few months. I poured a little gas in the carb, and it
fired right up. I let it idle for a while, held a constant 50 lbs of
oil pressure.
