Headlight bulb question for the experts.20 Nov 2006 22:46 GMT19
I was looking to replace the headlight bulbs in my 62 with the halogen
sealbeam replacements.  The bulb packaging states that the #1 bulb is 35/35
watts (35 on low and 35 on high) and the #2 bulb is 50 watts.  On low beam
you would have a total of 70 watts and in theory that ...
R1 vacuum?20 Nov 2006 19:18 GMT3
What do you guys normally see for vacuum gauge readings on a
well-tuned, stock R1?  I finally got my vacuum gauge hooked up today
and I am guessing that I have some tuning to do.  I suspect that I need
to do some tweaking on both timing and fuel mixture, but I would like
Greedy bastards O.T.20 Nov 2006 17:25 GMT7
Look at the Sony Playstation 3's on ebay. It looks like most of the ones
sold ended up on ebay. The good news is ebay is making a killing on
fees, since most of the listing are 2K to a million and are not getting
bids, but those around $1500 are selling.

I posted the below to the SDC Forum and got some good info, but I thought
I'd expand the data base a little and ask you guys for additional input.
Next May-June the Potomac Chapter, SDC is taking another long trip (like our
6,000-mile Route 66 trip in '03, but further north). We ...

For a non Avanti powered GT. It makes the 30K I got for Goldie just last
year seem like a bargain.

Need pros & cons on quick steer arms20 Nov 2006 13:35 GMT10
Thinking about changing to the quick steer arms on a 62 Lark with manual
steering.  Has anyone done this?  What were the results?  Any problems?  Any
downside?  Any pluses?

Rusty floor treatment20 Nov 2006 03:22 GMT5
What do you suggest to use on floors that have flaky rust but are no where
near to needing the floors replaced?  Should you sand blast or wire wheel
them to clean them up?  What would you suggest for paint?  POR-15?  Will
POR-15 stick to clean meatal, or should you leave it rusty?  ...
Mike Dotson20 Nov 2006 01:52 GMT2
Anybody know Mike Dotson?  He had a long and informative post about 1st gear
starts on here back in '02 and I wanted to talk to him about it.  He's not
in the SDC membership book.  Thanks
Chevy powered AVANTI question19 Nov 2006 23:16 GMT12
Did the Avantis with Small block Chevy power come with finned aluminum
valve covers?? If so,anyone have a pair they want to off? I am tired of
no name chrome valve covers that puke the useless rubber push in oil
fill caps. I want a twist in to seat design fill cap. Thanks!   Rich

Aaargh! (OT)19 Nov 2006 02:50 GMT15
Doggone it, anyway.
This darn brown Suburban is starting to become my own personal great white whale.
After I got the leaking block heater replaced, I've been driving it exclusively for the
past few days, to get a few miles on the engine and see how it behaves. So far, it's run

George Carlin's new rules for 2007
New Rule:  Stop giving me that pop-up ad for classmates.com!  There's a
reason you don't talk to people for 25 years.  Because you don't
particularly like them!  Besides, I already know what the captain of the
