Land Cruiser update07 Dec 2006 13:33 GMT1
I went by the shop yesterday and tried some things with the Land
Cruiser. I put the rear end on jack stands, cranked it up in 3rd gear
and ran it up to about 50 MPH. Then I mashed the clutch and pulled out
the parking brake. It choked down 3 or 4 times and then the clutch
Problems with the heater control valve on my '5507 Dec 2006 00:33 GMT8
The heater control valve on my '55 is not working properly. I can feel
the heat from the radiator under the passenger seat even when the valve
is suppose to be closed. I can get it rebuilt by SI and I guess I will
have to do that. My question, the thermostat thingy that sticks out ...

McCulloch Bonnet Grommets06 Dec 2006 17:12 GMT5
Anyone know where I might find the rubber grommets that seal the fuel
line and the vacum advance line on the bonnet for a 1958 Golden Hawk?
I went to Advance Auto Parts and found some O ring seals, but the don't
seem too stable.  Thank you.

For the picture impaired, link provided in text:

Oh, you shouldn't have said that, that wasn't nice.  No, that wasn't nice,
not at all.  It contained no <G>, and therefore was downright rude.  It
Early Stude engines06 Dec 2006 05:45 GMT3
In this month's SDC magazine they talk about the 1917 cars.  Also in
the article they mention that the engines did not have a removable head
and that the Fords did.  So my question is:  How do u do that?  How did
they make an engine where the block and head are one?  And curiously.

'48 Land Cruiser heading to the Jimmy Carter Library05 Dec 2006 16:36 GMT22
Well, looks as though Jimmy Carter found him a '48 Land Cruiser. It was
in Brunswick at a import garage where me and my grandad spotted it a
few months ago at a chapter meeting. We stopped in and found out the
owners name and looked over the car. Anyways, to make a long story
Engine Flooding On Left Turns05 Dec 2006 08:32 GMT7
Somewhere not too long ago I had heard that some V8 engines with Carter
4BBL carburetors would tend to stall out when warm during a left turn,
and only when making a left turn.  Supposedly it had something to do
with the higher volatility of the current gasoline we are using today
honeycomb radiator05 Dec 2006 01:41 GMT3
Does anyone know about honeycomb typr radiators?
I have a customer with a 20's Packard which has that type of radiator & it
either needs to be cleaned out or re-cored.  It there a way to clean out
such a radiator? Who replaces honeycomb cores with orig type cores? The car
