Coolant in Subarus27 May 2004 20:31 GMT10
Does anyone know if the coolant in Subarus is compatible with Dexcool
type coolant? I've heard that some types of coolants will coagulate
when mixed with dexcool.

Liberty and Impreza won't start when warm27 May 2004 18:22 GMT6
My previous car was a 95 Liberty which developed an annoying habit of not
starting when the engine is warm. OK when cold, OK when hot. But after a
short run to the shops the darn thing wouldn't start unless I waited half an
hour, or tipped a bucket of water over the engine.
Spongy brakes on 2004 Forester...27 May 2004 14:27 GMT6
I just got a new 2004 Forester and the brakes seem very spongy to me.
Funnily enough, the demo one had much firmer brakes. I did some
research and it seemed like spongy brakes were the norm back in 2001.
Do the newer models still have this "issue" or do I need to do
97 impreza Humming noises27 May 2004 14:19 GMT2
Lately, there has been a loud humming noise coming from the rear of my 97
impreza when I drive .  I know its not the exhaust.  It has about 73,000
miles on it with the orginal tires i think.  My bro says it might be the
rear differential thats making the noise.  Any ideas?  Thanks.
Turning off a Subaru security alarm27 May 2004 11:50 GMT3
I just had to tell this story...
I left my 2003 OBW (H6-3.0) at the local Subaru shop yesterday
afternoon for the cruise control recall and a couple of other, trivial
things.  They were really busy, the parking lot was almost full, and
Subaru known problems?27 May 2004 10:54 GMT28
I'm reading all kinds of reports of late model Impreza Forester and
wagon rear wheel bearings failing time and time again with no warranty
coverage by Subaru, clutch chatter that leads to premature clutch
failure and of course head gasket failure.  All before 90,000 miles.  Is
Mr Clean AutoDry and "regular" carwash detergent27 May 2004 04:02 GMT11
OK-
I've been using my new Mr Clean AutoDry car washing system for the
past few weeks.  I noticed a comment in another NG that it might be
possible to use a conventional carwash detergent (rather than the
Quick! Torque for 2.2L WaterPump & OilPump??26 May 2004 20:14 GMT3
Rats! Thought I had everything I needed off my $20 subscription to the
Sub manuals..
What's the right torque for the waterpump and oil pump on a 2.2L (97
Impreza). Need to put that back together tomorrow Am!!!
Antenna adapter to Motorola from Subaru Legacy power antenna?26 May 2004 17:51 GMT6
I recently replaced the power antenna in my '99 Subaru Legacy Wagon
with one I bought online at www.antennax.com.  Installation wasn't
perfect, but I've managed to get it installed and powered for the
extension and retraction.
Thinking of new Forester26 May 2004 12:49 GMT13
I was thinking of buying a new Forester. Any owners out there have any
advise. I was also wondering if they are stable in high winds, especially on
the highway by trucks, or do they get pushed around due to the height of the
vehicle. Any advise would be appreciated.
Upgrade stereo on 2004 Forester XT26 May 2004 02:40 GMT4
I will be purchasing a new 2004 Forester XT in a couple of days but I am not
happy with the factory stereo system. I would like to replace the in-dash cd
player with an aftermarket MP3/cd player and upgraded speakers.
Has anyone upgraded their factory stereo system without too many ...
Limited audio options in 2005 Legacy26 May 2004 02:20 GMT1
Based on what I can see on the subaru.com web pages and other sources, there
is not much a choice if you want more than the standard factory audio
system. The powered sub is an option (or standard on a few models), but
that's about it.  No high-end option like Infinity or Bose, and ...
cleaning tape heads.25 May 2004 21:50 GMT3
The tape player in my Suburu Liberty GX 1994 model has recently started to
produce background hiss and there seems to be some bass or other sound
missing when playing tapes as it just doesn't sound right.
First thing I want to do is clean the tape head. What is the best method to
98 impreza sport dash removal25 May 2004 21:44 GMT1
I want to change the cd receiver in my 98' subaru impreza, but I am having
a difficult time getting the panel in front of the reciever out.  I can
get it pried open so I can see into the panel, but it won't just pop out
all the way.  Does anyone know if you have to get any other ...
wiring fog lights25 May 2004 21:27 GMT9
I am planning on getting some aftermarket foglights and I would like
to wire them to be as bright as safely possible. I'd like to wire them
such that when I turn the car off the lights turn off even if i forget
to flip the switch.
