Test Drove 2005 Outback Wagon and Legacy GT Sedan Manual25 May 2004 08:27 GMT8
Just got back from a test drive of a new OBW with my family. The car
seems to have plenty of power and the manual shift mode on the auto
tranny was fun. My wife kept remembering our 83 GL Wagon and how
noisy, slow, etc. it was. The difference is night and day. Ride was a
Synthetic oil25 May 2004 00:56 GMT20
Good day all.  Perhaps this question has been asked before but here
goes: my car has roughly 261000 kms on it.  I am thinking of changing
oil to synthetic oil.  Is this a good idea?

Why are parking lights staying on?25 May 2004 00:48 GMT18
I have a 1996 Subaru Legacy Outback that developed a strange problem; the
parking lights are staying on even with the key turned off. I washed and
vacuumed it and later I noticed them on. What could cause this???
WRX Wagon for sale24 May 2004 19:17 GMT1
Loss of income forces the sale of my Midnight Pearl (Black) 2002 WRX
sportwagon. Located in Palmer Lake, Colorado; $16,500.
It is in excellent condition, and with only 24,000 miles, still has
plenty of factory warranty left.
Subaru of Claremont NH24 May 2004 10:34 GMT1
I was looking through the various newsgroups concerning Subaru vehicles
and came across a post from smahnospam@vermontel.com who also had
problems with Subaru of Claremont so I thought I would add my experience
as well.
2000 Outback Rear Sunscreen23 May 2004 23:32 GMT1
I have a 2000 Outback SW, the one with front and rear moon roof.  How the
heck do I open the rear sunsscreen that slides over the window.  It slides
back when I electronically open the window, but can''t find the latch? to
open the rear sun screen when the roof window is closed.
Removing interior panels23 May 2004 15:37 GMT1
I'm trying to remove the interior panel around the rear quarter window
in a 2003 Forester. This is the window in the trunk area. I found the
screws underneath the hook and underneath the clip for the cargo cover.
It appears that the only things holding the panel down are some ...
Outback Intermittent Power Loss23 May 2004 05:39 GMT4
My wife has a 2002 Outback, 4 cyl. with about 27K miles that she bought new.
It has been a very good car and she loves it. For the past two thousand
miles, the car has developed a serious power loss when accelerating normally
from a traffic light. The engine acts as if it is rapidly ...
Keyless entry22 May 2004 09:37 GMT4
Just bought a 1997 Legacy Outback. This is japan-made car sold in europe.
The dealer told me the car was equipped with a keyless entry system and
showed me the receiver between the interior lamps. Unfortunately the seller
seems to have lost the remotes.
Flat tire at 600 miles-Subaru Outback Wagon?22 May 2004 07:29 GMT4
Just 8 days after my wife purchased a new 2004 Outback Wagon, I was driving
it about 55-60MPH in the left lane of the Baltimore Beltway.  I suddenly
felt and heard a flat tire (left front).  Since it was heavy Mother's Day
traffic and there was no left shoulder, I had to continue ...
Found Good Subaru Parts Source VT-NH22 May 2004 04:13 GMT3
After a lot of online looking and local calling I found a NH dealer who
will go 20 percent off list on parts, at least for the $200+ of parts I
needed for a timing belt etc etc.  IstSubaruParts is 25% but shipping
makes about the difference for us up here in the North Woods...
check engin on 01 OBW?22 May 2004 02:46 GMT7
Howdy,
My check engine light came on tonight for no apparent reason.  I just
passed 60,100 miles and am wondering if that's at all related.
I assume a trip to dealer is in order (especially considering I'm
cooling fan problem??21 May 2004 15:43 GMT11
Noticed something new today and not sure if this is normal or not.
Replaced thermostat this weekend and all appeared to be OK.  While running the
engine to purge any entrapped air, noticed the cooling fans coming on and
cycling on a regular basis but duty cycle was probably less ...
Test drove an  Outback today21 May 2004 06:20 GMT9
I posted in an earlier post that I was looking into the Outback.  It seems
like a nice car.  I stopped by Carmax
on the way home and test drove a 2001 2.5L.  Nice car however.......
does anyone else think it's a bit underpowered?  It just didn't seen to have
Forester clutch21 May 2004 02:45 GMT1
My '01 Forester with about  72,000 miles on it has got something wankie with
its clutch.  It's a manual 5 speed that feels like there is a power loss
when I am cruising at a steady speed and give it gas but not so much to
change gears.  I watch the tach RPM's drop before it picks up ...
