bad brake calipers23 Jun 2004 22:04 GMT5
Just took my 97 Legacy to have its brakes inspected. I've been experiencing
noises and vibration in my brakes.I was told that my front disc brake pads
are wearing unevenly (one side pad is worn more than the other) and that
the reason is because the calipers are bad and need ...
Forester Deformed Upper Radiator Hose23 Jun 2004 18:38 GMT4
While poking around under the hood of my 2003 Forester X, I noticed that
the upper radiator hose was deformed, or crushed inwards.  I released the
radiator cap, there was a sucking sound as if under pressure and the hose
popped back to normal.  The fluid level was up to the ...

Forester XT tire recomendation...22 Jun 2004 19:01 GMT1
The Geolanders are about shot (outside edge wear from soft sidewalls rolling
under cornering)  Anyone got a good recomendation in the stock size?  I was
hoping to stretch these until I was ready to upsize, but I guess 16k miles
with the way I drive is not too bad.
Initial oil change22 Jun 2004 06:35 GMT19
I have searched and read this forum about oil change intervals, type and
weight, particularly for the initial change. I see many different ideas
and opinions on this subject. Could I possibly get a final,
comprehensive and knowledgeable guideline as to the type of oil to use.
Subaru Forester - Name that Sound22 Jun 2004 04:14 GMT10
I have a 1998 Forester. I get an annoying "droning" sound coming from
the rear/back end of the car. At first I thought it was tire noise. The
noise seems to get louder with increasing speed with the max around 55
mph. Around 60 mph the sound actually decreases. The shop
Overhoul of valves 2000 Legacy 2,5 GX22 Jun 2004 00:06 GMT1
I need to overhaul the exhaust valves in my Legacy. For some strange reason
this has happen at just 125 000 km.
This Is my 7. Subaru and the other have run smoothly in many more thousands
of kilometres without any serious problems. I am quite surprised and
Inaccurate Fuel Gauge21 Jun 2004 22:46 GMT3
I live in Australia and have a 2000 Liberty/Legacy that has inaccurate
fuel gauge readings.  Will not read full, even though the tank is
full, and the readings vary all over the place.
Looking thru the newsgroup this seems to be a common problem in 1995 -
Exhaust Rattle...21 Jun 2004 20:59 GMT4
I own a 2000 Subaru Outback with 41k miles and I've had a rattle
emanating from the front underside of the car when I accelerate;
especially up hill.
I've taken the car to a Subaru shop and the mechanic said a protective
'95 Outback and...  sand dunes?21 Jun 2004 19:21 GMT4
There are some sand dunes in the area, and I've been thinking about trying
to take them on in my aging '95 Outback.  The question is, will I be able to
make it through them?
The '95 model Outback lacks the ground clearance of the later models,
Adding 12v pwr oultet to my '03 Baja - which power source should I use?21 Jun 2004 17:54 GMT2
I posted this several weeks ago with no responses.  Any ideas for me?
I'm going to add two 12v power outlets (cigarette-lighter type) to the
rear
of the center console.  There's a nice little plastic panel that snaps
'96 Impreza engine coughed, threw a CEL21 Jun 2004 17:47 GMT4
Hey any idea what would cause this? I was exiting the freeway and as I was coming to a stop the engine "coughed" and almost stalled, then threw a CEL.
I have the code here. P0505 Idle Control System Malfunction. The guy at AutoZone said it could be MAP sensor or air filter or ...
Alpine CD/Receiver in 2001 LL Bean: Poor Radio Reception- Why?21 Jun 2004 15:22 GMT1
I recently replaced my stock CD/tape/radio head unit in my 2001 LL Bean
Outback with my Alpine 7837 CD/Receiver I had in another car. When all
connected, it works fine with the changer in the back in the tray over the
spare tire. When I switch to radio, the reception is really bad. ...

The other day; while at a car wash; the car started running really rough (idle
down to about 250-400rpm)  and then the check engine light came on.
so I started looking for inexpensive odb II readers...
there's a few options out there for reading these...
air conditioning went bad21 Jun 2004 04:04 GMT3
The air conditioning in my 97 Legacy wagon just went bad all of a sudden.
There was a hissing sound and then the cool air was no more. Now, it's only
regular air that comes out. Anyone have a clue to what I should check?
Thanks,
