Horrible screech from front end Part 216 Feb 2005 05:31 GMT1
Yesterday I got a can of STP Belt Conditioner. I sprayed it on the water
pump pulley as it was the only one easily accessible while the motor was
running. I got instant quiet!
The deflection on the belt is about 3/8 inch on a foot or so free
Clock LED is out16 Feb 2005 02:06 GMT2
The clock LED on my '99 Forester sort of gradually gave out a week or
so back - now it's completely out. I'm guessing it's a loose wire
somewhere (not likely to be a fuse since it didn't go completely out
right away, and nothing else seems to be affected). Anyone else have
transmission fluid change15 Feb 2005 20:43 GMT4
I have an 03 forester xs and would like to know when the 1st transmission
oil change should be.   I know, look at my maitance book, but it only says
when to  inspect it not when to have it changed.
My dealer wanted to change it at 15K miles and I wouldn't let him.  Thought
STi Short Throw Shifter15 Feb 2005 14:30 GMT2
Has anyone installed a kartboy shifter on an Sti?
I have an '05 STi and would like to add the shifter and bushings,  but
I'm concerned that the shift effort will be too high. I know it works
fine on the WRX, but that's a longer throw unit than the STi's.
hesitation first thing in the morning15 Feb 2005 01:58 GMT1
My 05 Outback is wierd. When I leave to work in the morning, I back out of
the driveway and when I put it in drive, the hit the gas, it doesn't do
anything for a second or two, then it flies forward, causing a "jerking"
motion. The Subaru service manager thinks that I'm not ...
WRX STi MY04 Type UK - Starting Problems14 Feb 2005 23:28 GMT1
My Type UK Sti struggles to start from cold. its got under 5k on it and its
5 months old.  Ill try and explain what happens.
When I turn the key the starter turns the engine over quickly and easily
until the engine starts,  when the engine starts it struggles to get to the
Broken Tie Rod '99 OBW14 Feb 2005 20:03 GMT4
I have yet to pick up the car from the mechanic but yesterday I heard and
felt a loud snap as I exited a steep driveway (but going slowly and
carefully).  Broken tie rod.  I have 105k on the car, just did the oil leak
fix along with timing belt, water pump et al a few weeks ago.  ...
Did I do Damage14 Feb 2005 08:37 GMT15
I just bought a 05 WRX and changed the oil the other night.  The manual
says the capacity is 4.2qts, so I put 4qts in and ran it at idle for 20
minutes.  I then shut it off and let the oil drain back down before I
checked it.  Thinking I would be adding 2/10th of a qt I was shocked ...
4 snow tires on Subaru (early OB) wheels, Seattle area14 Feb 2005 02:46 GMT2
They are Toyo Observe - G2 tires size 205-70 x 15.  These are
modern snow tires with walnut shells in the tread fomr our 1998 Outback,
when we got a newer Subaru these didn't fit it.  They have a reasonable
amount of tread, about 60% left, email me if you need a precise
Subaru Forester and Rust13 Feb 2005 21:35 GMT2
I was wondering if any of you (Subaru Forester owners) could give me
some feedback on your experience with rust/corrosion protection of the
Forester.
I have just bought a brand new 2005 Forester 2.5XT and I wonder just
'02 legacy and head gasket?13 Feb 2005 19:30 GMT12
i've got an '02 legacy wagon with the 2.5l engine, built 02/02.
how can i tell which rev of head (and head gasket) i've got?  if it's
the leak-prone phase II, i'd like to give it the leak-stop treatment,
but if it doesn't need it, i'd rather not risk clogging up my cooling
Horrible screech from front end HELP!13 Feb 2005 18:08 GMT3
My wife told me Fri nite that there was a whistling noise coming from
the car. It was late, so I decided to check on it Sat morn.
She wan't kidding, the damn thing screams when you open the hood.
Everything is so covered you can see a damn thing. It sounds to me like
1996 Subaru Legacy Outback Stalling at 1 Mile or 5 Minutes13 Feb 2005 16:19 GMT8
I have a 1996 Subaru Legacy Outback with 100,000 miles that has
begun to stall after driving approximately 1 mile or 5 minutes the
first time each day.  The Check Engine light comes on and may stay on
for a while (but it eventually turns itself off) and the engine begins
