Snow Chains for Legacy Outback12 Feb 2005 20:00 GMT7
I know that this has been asked several times in the past and that I
will probably never really need to fit snow chains but I am thinking
about buying a 2005 UK spec Outback.  These come with 17 inch 215/55
wheels and I want to use it for skiing trips to France where the
Subaru Legacy  vs Volvo S80?12 Feb 2005 16:22 GMT4
The local Subaru dealer tries to convince me dat Subaru's (Legacy for
instance) are much more reliable en has much lower running costs than my
current '99 Volvo S80 TDi.  I make about 40k kilometers per year.
Anybody first hand experience on this one?

Gasoline for Turbo engine12 Feb 2005 00:04 GMT46
I have one of the 2004 Subies with the stock turbo.  I've been using 93
octane gas as recommended, which is normally no big deal, since I usually
only fill up every few weeks.  But soon I'm going to be taking a cross-
country drive, and the extra cost of the premium gas is going ...

insuring 2005 forester xt11 Feb 2005 17:48 GMT8
Can anyone explain to me why insurance is so costly on this car?
According to my insurance company (usaa. usually tough to beat), it's
$50 more per six months than a 2002 audi allroad or a 2004 toyota
tacoma and it's $150 more than a 2003 ford explorer. i thought for sure

On my 99 Legacy I can hear scraping noise from rear driver side on left

AOL dumps newsgroups11 Feb 2005 09:29 GMT9
Yesterday AOL flashed a message to all users clicking on newsgroups to
the effect that it would no longer support newsgroups as of "early
2005" (see below).
When I inquired about this, AOL said this new policy "was based on user
'90 Legacy ABS light problem11 Feb 2005 01:45 GMT1
Hope someone can assist: our 90 Legacy with 140,00 kilometres has the ABS
warning light on. My shade tree mechanic (very good,  but not a Subaru
specialist) finds a code reading #9. According to his  'puter, this can mean
either the ABS relay (relatively cheap, I presume),   or it ...
2000 Legacy Wagon-catalytic converter?11 Feb 2005 00:41 GMT5
My car just passed the California emissions test, but a few days later the
check engine light went on. Now I just had a mechanic look at it and he
says that both the catalytic converters are out. This seems strange to me
since I would have thought that I would have had a poor ...
buying my first subaru10 Feb 2005 21:21 GMT9

i've settled on the forester 2.5 xt as my first subaru. i've found a
dealer in town that selling a 2005 w/ 1700 miles on it. they're asking

Spoiler from '03 fit on '02?10 Feb 2005 20:37 GMT1
I was wondering if a OEM spoiler from a WRX '03 would fit just fine on a '02
WRX?  Mine has a nice sized crack and a buddy with a newer model doesn't
need his spoiler, just looking for the cheap/easy fix.
AM Radio reception in 05 Legacy Outback10 Feb 2005 01:06 GMT4
My 3.0 VDC AM radio has poor reception.  I am talking about poor reception
on large stations 10 miles out of town.  Is this because of the built in
antennae?  I like to listen to stations out of my area, but have been unable
to with this car.  Any ideas?
94 Loyale surging09 Feb 2005 19:20 GMT1
Hi
I bought a 94 Loyale wagon 4WD - manual gearbox. It had a misfire, so
I changed plugs, plug leads, dist cap and rotor arm, had the injectors
cleaned out, replaced the air filter, replaced the timing belts (they
