2003 forester service15 Jun 2005 00:01 GMT3
does anyone have an opinion on the 15K service for the forester '03 XS.  My
dealer wants to charge $350.00 to change the trani fluid, air filter checks
various stuff.  The service manual just states to 'check' the trani fluid.
Why would my dealer want to change the fluid other ...
Tire Replacement14 Jun 2005 17:42 GMT26
I recently acquired a nail in one tire. Haven't determined if the tire is
repairable but in case it is not I want to learn what options what the tire
replacement options are. I understand uneven relative thread wear between
tires can be detrimental to the all-wheel-drive train ...

Air conditioner losing its power?14 Jun 2005 11:33 GMT1
my legacy 1995 seems to be getting out of R134 coolant.  It did not
happen suddenly, but since a couple of years, it looks like the air
conditioner takes more and more time to do its job.  After the last
couple of days at 90 degress F, I see that it just can't cool enough.
Subaru cars unable to do handbarke turn?(except STI)14 Jun 2005 04:42 GMT1
I've read various articles about the viscous typed center differential
on normal 2.5RS and WRX (not sti)will lock-up whenever the speed difference
is too big. So once you applied handbrake, the center diff will
also tend to slow down your front wheels too since it's auto locked-up,
Where are the Outback wagon's built?13 Jun 2005 20:35 GMT34
Curious, where specifically are Subaru Outback wagon's built?
Engine replacement - Legacy 200213 Jun 2005 19:37 GMT6
Everyone knows that Subaru had problems with their 2.5L motors between
2001 and 2003... and it is now my turn to have an engine replacement.
When a received an email from my dealer saying that they had received
the short block, it says:
Forester:  viscous coupling locking center differential ??????13 Jun 2005 12:17 GMT7
An earlier post mentioned that the 5 speed Forester had no center diff, only
the viscous coupling giving drive to the rear wheels.
On the Subdriven web site,an article on the 06 Forester
(http://www.subdriven.com/news/publish/Subaru_News/article_369.shtml), has
Water Leaking into Impreza Outback Sport?13 Jun 2005 04:12 GMT1
I left my 2003 OBS outside the garage for a few hours this afternoon.
Getting into it I noticed a small amount of water, maybe a table spoon
had what looks like dripped down the drivers side plastic panels left of
the clutch pedal.  I reached underneath the plastic near the ...

Forester Wind/Road Noise12 Jun 2005 09:11 GMT4
I have a 2001 Forester with 58K miles on it.  Overall, I like the
vehicle, but I find the amount of wind/road noise at highway speeds
annoying.
It seems that the wind noise comes from the windows not sealing
Does the Outback clutch have to be heavy?11 Jun 2005 13:28 GMT10
Started driving a 2003 Outback with a (proverbial)10 tonne clutch pedal.
So heavy I got joint pain in my knee after a 40Km city drive. First
Outback I have driven.
Other car (old Subie GL wagon) has very nice light clutch. Got back in
Wacky Auto Dimming mirror experience10 Jun 2005 16:36 GMT12
During the winter I posted my experience with the auto-dimming mirror
suddenly "fading" slowly until just a small circle of auto-dim crystal
stuff was left and finally even that was gone.  I accepted this and
have been driving around with what now amounts to a regular mirror for
Dog slobber and new Outback09 Jun 2005 21:04 GMT12
I drove the OB XT Limited and like it a lot, but I have two golden
retrievers that drool, shed, sometimes get muddy, etc.  The cargo area tray
is a good start on containing the mess but the sides/seat backs are carpeted
and headliner is fabric.  Other than the dog barrier, Subaru ...
Backup lights and clutch replacement09 Jun 2005 03:13 GMT3
I've posted about this a couple of weeks ago, I'd appreciate some more
help. This is a 2000 Outback, manual transmission. We had the clutch
replaced and it looks like since then the back up lights are not
working. I've called the dealer and they immediately said that there
