test drive question22 Jul 2005 07:18 GMT20
I just test drove a new manual transmission Impreza.  The car was
brand new with only 5 miles on the odometer.  The Check Engine light
was on and when I drove it the engine seemed rough.  The salesman
explained these things away.  I was told the Check Engine light being

Got a new '05 Forester. No info in manual on any break-in
procedures/period. Is there a break-in period like in the old days?
Seems not....
What the heck? (New front ends)22 Jul 2005 06:25 GMT5
Okay, I *was* planning to buy an STi sometime this fall when I
finished getting the funds together for it... but now I see they are
doing that Tribeca theme on the front end. Frankly, if Subaru is
trying to make their cars look that hideous they are going to cost a
2005 Forester XS: better than 2006 for me (hurry while they last)22 Jul 2005 06:22 GMT2
I just got a 2005 Forester XS.
I was considering the 2006 models, but the 2005 XS was definitely
better for me.
First of all, I'm 6' 5".  That means that I cannot abide a sunroof,
Anyone else w/Tranny problems?22 Jul 2005 05:50 GMT7
My 05 OBW continues to drive poorly when the engine is cold. The transmission is so sluggish for the 1st few minutes. The automatic shifting is so poor and rough when I get out of the driveway. I am so sick of this problem. When Subaru looks at it, they say that they tested the ...
will subaru ever get back the trust of the early 90's22 Jul 2005 04:57 GMT41
when they had the  great 2.2 engine?...will they ever own up to the
failure of the 96-99 2.5l DOHC? let alone the later 2.5 SOHC  with
their head gasket failures? Will they ever own up to the design flaw in
the engine which is not a gasket problem  but a basic design problem
Baja/ Subaru Front Brake Problem21 Jul 2005 12:35 GMT4
I have 20800 miles on my 2003 Baja. The front brake rotors had to be cut
because they were scoured and new pads installed. Any ideas would be
helpful. Dealer replaced under warranty, They said it could be normal under
certain conditions.... My Baja is all highway mileage.
2000 Forester A/C question21 Jul 2005 05:12 GMT9
I just purchased a used 2000 Forester and need a question answered regarding
the A/C.
I live out in the Denver area, so it can get quite hot at times under the
direct sun (~1 mi less atmosphere to filter it!).  I've noticed that the A/C
1996 Legacy Outback20 Jul 2005 18:24 GMT2
I have a 1996 Outback and I'm getting a thumping in the front as if it's a bad bearing or CV Joint. I changed the CV joint and bearings are ok but the problem continues. The problem is non-existent in reverse and only occurs when going forward. My next step is to check the ...

1985 headlight assembly19 Jul 2005 16:48 GMT5
I live in a highly wooded area and I was driving home one night in the rain
on a very curvy road.  There are lots of deer where I live.  I know that if
I were to actually hit one, it would probably kill me as my car is so low
to the ground and a deer would probably come right ...
engine check light19 Jul 2005 03:04 GMT5
I have a 1997 outback that looks better than the day I bought it new.  I
changed the oil on Saturday, and today, Tuesday, the check engine light came
on.  Upon looking around, I found that one hose to the back pressure
transducer had come loose.  I must have knocked it loose ...

The tow rating for most Legacy/Outback is 2000 lbs.
Are they able to tow small campers? I have a popup I
have towed with a Dodge Caravan (3.0 liter) with no trouble. This Caravan is
rated at 2000 lbs. also. Any information appreciated.
