How Hard to Change Strut on Forester?23 Aug 2005 03:19 GMT5
The Left Rear strut on my 2000 Forester is shot-it is leaking and clunking.
How hard to change? Any special tips?
I have changed shock absorbers before but never a strut. I have jacks,
impact tool, hand tools, reasonable mechanical ability.
Problem I'm having with car shifting22 Aug 2005 14:51 GMT1
I went over a speedbump today (apprently too fast) and immediately
my Subaru Outback was very sluggish in shifting gears (it is an
automatic).  After stopping at a light and going again it acted like it
wanted to stall but then got going ok.  Did this several

avoiding power windows22 Aug 2005 07:21 GMT12
How far back do I have to go to avoid power windows?  I'm looking for something small with good gas mileage, like maybe a Legacy, but I will not tolerate power windows, power door locks, or an automatic transmission.  I would like air conditioning.
I know all the power stuff is ...

moving front roof rail forward on 2001 Forester21 Aug 2005 13:19 GMT1
I'm trying to install bike carrier on roof on 2001 Forester. The bike
carrier manufacturer (Yakima) claims to support 2001 Forester. However, I
can't fasten the front side of the bike carrier to the front roof rail,
because hole in the bike carrier (where I could put a bolt) is ...
1996 Subaru Legacy Parking light issue21 Aug 2005 07:57 GMT2
I seem to be having an issue with my parking lights not shutting off when I
turn off the headlights and stay on when I shut the car off and take out
the key. Has anyone heard of this or had it happen. Is this a switch issue
or a computer? I pulled the fuse, and pulled the battery ...
Engine Oil Overfill - Unfortunately it happened to me.20 Aug 2005 00:30 GMT2
The foam will make it's way into the cylinders, past the piston rings and end up spewing out anywhere it can. Some idiot overfilled my motorcycle, funny thing is the capacity is printed right over the filling spout. Long story short riding it home I stopped at a light and found ...
New '05 OBW, needs divider for back19 Aug 2005 19:16 GMT1
So, last weekend I did it. I bought a 2005 2.5i Outback 5 speed. There
are tons of automatics left here in northern California, but not many
manuals remaining. I went with the 5 speed for the better mileage and
the $1000 lower price tag. I only have 400 or so miles on it but am

Forester rear strut19 Aug 2005 08:01 GMT4
wat is the expected life of a rear (selfleveling) strut of a Forester '99 ?
They're very expensive (400 dollar in Europe) and mine has broken after
150.000 km.
I think it's a bit early. I never drive with a caravan or trailer.
Legacy power door locks19 Aug 2005 03:31 GMT1
'96 Legacy L Sedan, AT. Can someone look in their owners manual, and
tell me the "rules" for the power door locks? When I unlock the
drivers side door from the outside, sometimes all of the doors will
unlock, sometimes just the drivers door. Seems like I recall that this
